Thanks. If the lead is that long I might try that the sound is normally far superior on the wired ones and it's probably far cheaper. smile

Apparently they actually work on both the xbox 360 and the playstation 3 and what you get in the box is exactly the same,Now these headsets costs in the region of £170 and that's not the list price which is around £200.

I have a set of logitech wireless headset and at the push of the button i can switch channels from 360 to playstation 3 and vice versa, now with these so called high tech super duper headset from Turtle beach you have to keep going around the back of your television set up to change the leads input depending on what console you are using..................This is a total flaw so i will not be buying a set of these regardless of how good they sound.

I just don't understand how a gaming headset of this price and quality can expect any gamer to be bothered with that amount of hassle when playing the different consoles, its like spaghetti junction already around the back of my television and the glass table is virtually impossible to move with the amount of gadgets,Consoles and all the other stuff i have crammed on top of it.................

TBH in the world outside of console gaming turtle beach means pretty much nothing, they aren't super high power amazing theyre not the best on the market at all, especially not for that price. TBH from experience the only reason ive heard the turtle beach brand around for/on is because of everyones favourite 3 letter game abbreviation, nothing more really, with the early halo games it was plantronics, with COD its turtle beach "so you can hear peoples footsteps on S&D".

As I said, im sure you could rig up almost any other headset up to a console, it'll probably have the same issue as what you mentioned (with you having to physically switch it), any other headset which could provide you with just as good sound quality "so you can hear footsteps" for cheaper, so yeah...

Oh Yeah my first set of Turtle Beaches Will stay exactly that my first and last , shocking quality and broke with in a few weeks but i do still use the Turtle Beach DSS which for anybody that does not know , turns any set of headphones into 7.1 .

But i will be sticking with my gorges Sennheiser and the DSS for the foreseeable future and yes i do play with leads and only ever see my self ever playing with leads ( hate battery's ) as they suit my long gaming sessions and desktop environment .

If you're after a decent set of cans and wanna do some research to ensure you're getting a proper set good for gaming you could always check out the headfi forums:

http://www.head-fi.org/

Trouble with that place is your head will burst will all the scientific information they give you but at the least you should fairly quickly see what most gamers recommend these days though their bias will be for absolute sound quality rather than usability issues.

Should be a useful visit tho'.

Will look into it Spook matey wink,to be honest i have a pretty decent set already but they could do with a bit more volume and boost.

Had a quick look Spook but i am sorry to report that website is way of my head and if i don't see console gaming headsets within a few seconds i really can not be bothered, seems very much tailored at the hi-fi enthusiasts.

Best thing about the turtle beach I have over normal headphones is that they have a mic and you can adjust the volume of chat and game sounds independently of each other.
Great for playing with mates.
If I wasn't using them for chat I would just use my surround sound and set audio to war tapes in BFBC2.

After asking about them i am sticking with my Logitech F540 which are a really good headset and don't really need replacing with something that costs the best part of £200 with the constant hassle of changing the leads in the back of the PlayStation and xbox 360 depending on what i am playing.

A headset costing this much money i expect the dogs dangles and to me thses are not worth the money based on basic flaws in the design.

If Logitech and others can produce headsets that dont need you to keep swapping cables then i am sure Turtle beach could have done the same.

Am I right in assuming that with the f540 I could input the iPhone and listen to music Instead of game sound if I fancied it, and then still use the mic?

Have to look into that for you mate as for me anyway i see little point in listening to music when playing a game like call of duty.

They are a great set of cans to be honest and i am just looking at another gaming fix that will end up been a waste of money............

Technology ................You just can not keep up with it,whatever you buy a few months down the line something better comes out..............Take the Iphone for instance as i think come this september we have the 5th generation Iphone in just 2 years..............
