Mmmm. Glad we're agreed. Some mindless zombie chopping might be a useful diversion to other more demanding (and thought provoking) games like Battlefield 2 and so on. Ahem.

Just hope the story line adds up and makes sense (as far as it can for a game at least). I suppose the end scene will have the survivor/s sail off into the sunset but they won't know there's a zombie on board stowing away...

Then there will be Dead Island 2 or maybe Dead Metropolis depending on where they end up. All the usual cliches will follow - zombie taken off for scientific 'analysis', accidental (on purpose) release of mutant test subject volunteers and a new game set in New York. The infection will spread out from a cosmetics factory and... students and models and escaped bunnies and stuff. I can see it all.

I should become a game story writer! I'd call it 'Die Hard and then Die again'. The one after that will be called Die Hard and then Die again and again. And so on... I'm a genius! tongue

laugh

Like it. Yeah, I can imagine that. Nice old lady takes pity on poor ol' Spook. Next thing I know... Ouch! Don't wanna go there.

I was always too scared to read many Stephen King novels. My 8 year old sister was all right with them at the time, mind. Still, she used to get nightmares so serves her right for reading them. Myself, despite being in my early twenties at the time, I was far too much of a wuss.

That film about the clown living in the sewers and reaching up through the drains (amongst other things) totally put me off. For life!

Still, a nice bowl of soup. Who could say no to that? wink

I look forward to seeing what you make of them.

Had a look at the video from your link and gotta say I found them interesting.

Getting a new set of headphones to replace my cheap Grado's that bust on me (rubbish build quality/terrific sound) is definitely on my to do list. Much of their usage would be for gaming I suppose and the dolby processing via optical cable (did I read that right?) intrigues me. Not too fussed about wires mind as I would be at the PC most times I used them.

I have Skyrim and BF3 pre-ordered. I might get Deus Ex, MW3, Dead Island and a few others tho. Gotta see what the reviews are like first.

There are worse vices than gaming! Mind you, on the 12 point scale you'd definitely have a problem! But you're in good company mate. wink

Now repeat after me "Gaming is good and definitely not an addiction." tongue

If you can get an american to buy a 4pack of dead island works out about £23 each on steam.

But personally i'm a bit wary of dead island, im not sure what to think of what i've seen, it just reminds me of bulletstorm meets dead rising 2, whilst not bad games they weren't exactly my thing i could play on proper basis, as opposed to games like deus ex assuming it isn't going to be short or overly obvious in its plot.

There should be some reviews popping up soon though.

Im growing tired of the mindless shootathons which have little plot to string them together or a short campaign, its why i was glad to hear gears 3 has over 90mins of vids and has the longest story/campaign epic have ever made. Considering gears 2 had quite a hefty campaign 3 should be decent.

Dead Island is a cert for me mate and i really can not see how this game can really get that many negative reviews but we know that somebody will dish the dirt.

To me this walks all over Resident evil games and the Capcom Dead rising games that had some great reviews.

My only gripe as of yet is the fact that there are limited firearms and bullets which is my preferred way of inflicting mass destruction.

As for the turtle beach PX5 i will be surprised if they are as easy to set up as they claim especially with the optical cable,I already have optical cables set up behind the television going here there and everywhere in my sound system from Keff.

Not really that keen on the big boom shaped microphone that could have been more streamlined, also the last turtle beach headset i bought a few years back was a little cheap looking plastic thing...

Saying that it was really comfortable around my ears and sounded really nice which is what its all about really wink

Only played the original Gears of War and quite enjoyed that for the storyline and cutscenes. It made a big difference to how the game felt and kind of encouraged you to play through pretty repetitive swarms of enemy monsters. 90 mins sounds a lot, hopefully there is plenty of action to be had built around that but at the least should mean the game has a strong story and that will aid your focus really well.

Dead Island for £23 would be luvly. My mate is over in America now so I guess I could ask him but he's a (non-gaming) pillock so I don't think that would be such a good idea really. It'd be safer to pay more over here! Yeah, more info would be good.

The game looks really good thus far except for the heavy emphasis on melee attacks though I personally enjoyed the baseball bat from that vid. It had the (stress relieving) right feel to it, don't you agree? tongue

Yeah, with that many flippin' zombies running around all trying to grope you and bite off body parts, a few more guns (with fire damage maybe!) would be nice. I also prefer firearms, especially against enemies who cling to you and slow you down when close up. It's like "ugh! get away from me, zombie beast!"

I think from what I've read and seen, with zombies, you need more than one player so someone can distract them whilst the other takes them down. Especially so if you're relying on melee weapons as the last thing you want is them climbing all over you.

That's what you want from a gaming headset, innit? Great sound quality (with the ability to boost subtle footsteps and voice over explosions and gunfire) coupled with comfort and ease (and adaptability) of use. I can see why you're not keen on more cables with that Kef sound system in place.

Provided the mic can sit out of the way without becoming a permanent distraction (and no one is watching you play your games and filming ya) then a big daft mic shouldn't be too much of a problem. Hopefully it will be as good as the marketing blurb claims and its size will be an indicator of quality, even if its just one for robustness.

Well, we of the forum will keep a beady eye out for your initial thoughts review on the Turtle Beach PX5 headphones then. Gotta say I am looking forward to you receiving them. smile
