Now i invested about 20 hours into Dead Island and its a great game but i tend to move on to other stuff as you do.
Rage i thought was a lot better than the videos i saw of it and at first after playing it for about 3 hours i was quite impressed but the more i played the more bored i got with the game.
Dark souls was another i picked up as i knew it offered a severe challenge and had outstanding reviews, but that is not a reason for me to invest when i think about it because i don't have the patience to play one particular game that does not involve shooting.
Rage as you know is a FPS but on that level and not the graphics which are very sweet it fails big time and thats to me is a surprise given ID pedigree in the past with Doom and Quake and Enemy Territory .
Want me to go on, how about i tell you that my temptation to buy games that have scored really well even though they are not my type of game is my downfall.
Forza 4..........Great game again but does it transfix me to keep playing it like Cod Games..........Answer no........Will i keep that it that will be the same answer, why did i buy it if im not a lover of driving games in the first place is another question.
After this year has gone my aim next year is to look closely at what i like and what to me is essential buy and am i going to finish it.
I will tell you now that there are games that i should not have bought based on a few reviews and the fact my gaming instinct says they wont be any good.
Biggest joke of the year has to be Duke Puke em Forever and i knew after looking at it that this was 2011 Christmas Turkey and still like a idiot i took a chance because its a FPS and i enjoyed the previous PC versions.......This has to be one of the worse games i have ever bought and the quickest trade in ever having ditched it some 2 hours later.
I knew Gears would be good having bought the previous versions but Horde Mode surpassed my expectations and is extremely addictive and i finished the single player within days of the release.
MW3 will be the same and i wont touch any multiplayer stuff until i have completed the single player game, same with Battlefields 3..............
For me to complete a game it has to suck me in within minutes of me playing it,for me thats what games are like First impressions...........Just like when you meet a Girl for the first time.
i have watched all the videos of MW3 and the one that got me really excited was the multiplayer clip when the music starts after about 2 minutes..........Awesome
Now tonight during the half time break in the champions league on Sky Sports we get a trailer for the game MW3 and it to me it does not look that good on a graphical level and fails to even raise a smile from myself.
Should have screened something from
THIS as its far more impressive than the trailer they used tonight to advertise MW3...
My girlfriends passion is clothes, mine is games and nothing gets me more excited than a new game especially when that game is a potential classic, but i really have to take a closer look at my inner self and stop buying games just for the sake of it when i know to well that these games will not hold my interest and will be quickly left or traded a week or two later.
Next year i am only going to buy games that i really like and know i will enjoy, mainly they will be any decent FPS but in the meantime I'm hoping both Battlefield 3 and MW3 keep me entertained all through the winter months ,If they both do i will be extremely happy but if its just one then im wont be complaining .
If neither of them do then may be i need to just pack up gaming and find another interest like Rambling

..........Its cheaper and far healthier option anyway
Batman Arkam City gets released this week and this game has some amazing reviews but time2die is learning and there is no way i will pick this up because its not a game that interests me in the slightest.
Some people will buy this because they have a fascination with everything Batman and thats all fine and dandy, besides by the look of it they are getting a cracking looking game that has had reviewers drooling in the porridge.
Normally because i love games i would have picked this up based on reviews and how graphical nice it looks ,but i am now going to resist these type of games in the future for quite a few reasons .
Firstly i know where my time will be spent in a few weeks and it wont be playing Batman so thats reason enough to leave the game alone.
Second............There is also Uncharted 3 and Saints Row which are my type of games released basically at the same time and they hold far more interest to me than Batman.
Ever since the days of pang and a Spectrum Sinclare and Commodore 64 has the addiction reached fever level, seems like yesterday when i was loading a tape on a spectrum with the flashing television screen in the background shouting at my sister as she walked past as the game crashed because of the rubbish cable connections were so sensitive...............Even when someone walked past it on the carpet.
Kids today don't know how lucky they are and what us old ones had to put up with in the past
