Re: Battlefield 3.....Your Honest opinion.

I love my gaming but I don't play such a range /number of games as you so I only tend to comment on the ones that relate to me and my interests.

I have my PC and a 580 which means I can run BF3 on high no probs - will have to see how ultra does at the final release but high still looked really nice. I don't own a console but I have played FPSs on consoles before and never really got along with them - I know what I can do with a mouse and keyboard and I find the controls clunky and hard work on consoles. The fact that the graphics are superior on PC just reinforces for me that it is only way to play the game. The cost is more (people make it out to be higher than it is) but it is a price I am willing to pay smile

Since the beta ended I have gone back to a bit of BC2 and last night I had the best game of BC2 I have had in a long time and I was playing with a bunch of random pubs. A comment by me about wanting a new team was met by 2 other players who were equally disillusioned and so I suggested a new squad and the next map we took the losing team and won the round on a what is a hard map to attack. It was so much fun smile

And that is what I've been trying to tell time2die all this time. This is the essence of the battlefield experience, people playing together against the odds and making a difference. When it all comes together it's an excellent feeling so hopefully BF3 will improve upon release so as to engender and encourage more co-operative play as they will need to get back to the BF2 way of squad implementation at least in order to facilitate better in-game communications. DICE, with the Battlelog system, seem to have put in a lot of the foundations for what could be a really progressive move in that direction. Now that I come to think of it, I bet they end up charging a monthly fee for it! Bah. mad

Well squads should be 'fixed' for release - I still would prefer 6 man squads personally but I don't think there is any chance of that. You would probably need to go back to the system of only spawn on squad leader to deal with that as well but that would be ok with me.

I also don't understand voice comms. It seemed like it was something to do with parties within the battlelog but firstly I couldn't get it working and secondly it means you can only speak to friends. Which is not so good. You can get squad play going with typing but it is so much harder. For a small clan like mine being able to properly talk with squad members would be our best chance of getting new members which we are hoping to find on release. We can just about fund a 64 man server with current members but I don't know how long we can keep that up without a few extra members.

What's your clan called? It would be nice to play amongst some more dedicated players.

My clan is called MW...Forever..lol wink

Spooky my friend i have said i will give it a good going over and I'm willing to spend 20 minutes instead of 10 minutes trying the Battlefield 3 game out tongue Only Kidding.

I think looking at the console versions the single player is the main reason i still want the game but i will certainly test out the online a lot more when i get the full retail version.

4 games on my radar now and nothing else and in order of preference they are as follows.

The obvious choice in my case.

MW3
UNCHARTED 3
SAINTS ROW THE THIRD
BATTLEFIELD 3

Funny how they all end up been the 3rd in the serious wink

You bad man, you. MW Forever? Is that Medium Wave Forever, eh? Grandad. wink

Yeah, it is a strange co-incidence with all the 3s. Must be the month for them. I wonder if Mystic Meg predicted this?

Hey Spook i bet with your super duper rig your counting the days regarding Battlefield and not getting much sleep.wink

Its great when you have a passion for games and certain games on the horizon get you excited aint it.

If you take all the game releases this year i would not say up to yet that there has been a game that has me waiting in anticipation and really hyped me up.

Bought quite a few but sadly apart from gears 3 not another game has held my attention for more than a few hours and that is basically how it is for me lately.

Thats why i love a solid FPS like Cod games and anything that comes remotely close will keep me occupied for ages as there is so much in the package and i enjoy what they offer even though some don't like them as much.

Im sure that when both Battlefield and MW3 get released at least then some of us will be happy i hope.

Im just praying that MW3 matches my high expectations and it plays as good as it looks and we dont get hackers central all over again like MW2 which basically condemned the game i loved to the world of trade ins.

I just hope if this game gets hacked or has some serious glitches that they put it right a lot quicker than there previous games .

Yeah, we should be grateful for two slices of FPS action this autumn. Only a fool would complain.

I wonder if, say you could time travel back to the start of this year, and someone told you you'd only find one game worthwhile this year - Gears 3 - then what would you have done? I'm thinking you'd have thought maybe you needed another hobby? Or, perhaps you would have set up some kind of gaming foundation for would be game developers to set up creating games for you to play. The possibilities of foresight, eh? tongue

My rig will be found lacking when BF3 gets delivered. Just found out AMD are going to start rolling out their 7 series graphics card updates based on new 28nm tech. Nvidia are keeping quiet and aren't expected to roll out any new series cards till next year some when. Either way, it's not cheap keeping up with it all. My 5870 will have to tide me over for a while yet.

So, you didn't think much of Dead Island then? What about Rage? You finished with that already? shocked

Now i invested about 20 hours into Dead Island and its a great game but i tend to move on to other stuff as you do.

Rage i thought was a lot better than the videos i saw of it and at first after playing it for about 3 hours i was quite impressed but the more i played the more bored i got with the game.

Dark souls was another i picked up as i knew it offered a severe challenge and had outstanding reviews, but that is not a reason for me to invest when i think about it because i don't have the patience to play one particular game that does not involve shooting.

Rage as you know is a FPS but on that level and not the graphics which are very sweet it fails big time and thats to me is a surprise given ID pedigree in the past with Doom and Quake and Enemy Territory .

Want me to go on, how about i tell you that my temptation to buy games that have scored really well even though they are not my type of game is my downfall.

Forza 4..........Great game again but does it transfix me to keep playing it like Cod Games..........Answer no........Will i keep that it that will be the same answer, why did i buy it if im not a lover of driving games in the first place is another question.

After this year has gone my aim next year is to look closely at what i like and what to me is essential buy and am i going to finish it.

I will tell you now that there are games that i should not have bought based on a few reviews and the fact my gaming instinct says they wont be any good.

Biggest joke of the year has to be Duke Puke em Forever and i knew after looking at it that this was 2011 Christmas Turkey and still like a idiot i took a chance because its a FPS and i enjoyed the previous PC versions.......This has to be one of the worse games i have ever bought and the quickest trade in ever having ditched it some 2 hours later.

I knew Gears would be good having bought the previous versions but Horde Mode surpassed my expectations and is extremely addictive and i finished the single player within days of the release.

MW3 will be the same and i wont touch any multiplayer stuff until i have completed the single player game, same with Battlefields 3..............

For me to complete a game it has to suck me in within minutes of me playing it,for me thats what games are like First impressions...........Just like when you meet a Girl for the first time.

i have watched all the videos of MW3 and the one that got me really excited was the multiplayer clip when the music starts after about 2 minutes..........Awesome

Now tonight during the half time break in the champions league on Sky Sports we get a trailer for the game MW3 and it to me it does not look that good on a graphical level and fails to even raise a smile from myself.

Should have screened something from THIS as its far more impressive than the trailer they used tonight to advertise MW3...

My girlfriends passion is clothes, mine is games and nothing gets me more excited than a new game especially when that game is a potential classic, but i really have to take a closer look at my inner self and stop buying games just for the sake of it when i know to well that these games will not hold my interest and will be quickly left or traded a week or two later.

Next year i am only going to buy games that i really like and know i will enjoy, mainly they will be any decent FPS but in the meantime I'm hoping both Battlefield 3 and MW3 keep me entertained all through the winter months ,If they both do i will be extremely happy but if its just one then im wont be complaining .

If neither of them do then may be i need to just pack up gaming and find another interest like Rambling tongue ..........Its cheaper and far healthier option anyway wink

Batman Arkam City gets released this week and this game has some amazing reviews but time2die is learning and there is no way i will pick this up because its not a game that interests me in the slightest.

Some people will buy this because they have a fascination with everything Batman and thats all fine and dandy, besides by the look of it they are getting a cracking looking game that has had reviewers drooling in the porridge.

Normally because i love games i would have picked this up based on reviews and how graphical nice it looks ,but i am now going to resist these type of games in the future for quite a few reasons .

Firstly i know where my time will be spent in a few weeks and it wont be playing Batman so thats reason enough to leave the game alone.

Second............There is also Uncharted 3 and Saints Row which are my type of games released basically at the same time and they hold far more interest to me than Batman.

Ever since the days of pang and a Spectrum Sinclare and Commodore 64 has the addiction reached fever level, seems like yesterday when i was loading a tape on a spectrum with the flashing television screen in the background shouting at my sister as she walked past as the game crashed because of the rubbish cable connections were so sensitive...............Even when someone walked past it on the carpet.mad

Kids today don't know how lucky they are and what us old ones had to put up with in the past smile

If this really is PS3 footage then I am pleasantly surprised. Top end PC it ain't, but it looks better than the beta. That said, there isn't much in the way of grass and trees in this video, which i felt were completely jagged in the PS3 beta.

Would be nice to see some genuine PS3 campaign clips. I think it will look far better than the MP (crosses fingers behind back) grin
.

Knowing how it works is completely different to understanding how it works.
