Steam Update Issues on Mac

Hi all, been looking all over the internet for days and haven't found a fix to this issue.

I'm running mac os 10.7.3 and I cannot for the life of me get steam to open. It downloads an update then just sits idle in the dock and crashes.

Any possible fix for this issue? I had it working on my old iMac but recently upgraded to an i7 macbook pro.

I wont - This problem also affects PC users too...

So I will say : Get an Archimedes!

I've sorted it now, my university network has all ports used by steam blocked. Loaded fine when I got home

And consequently there was a subsequent rise in the level of people's grades.

If it were me I'd be complaining to the Vice Chancellor for restricting my religious freedom (to play games). How dare they.
