I read it was to measure your heart rate. Perhaps so Dead Space 3 and the like can tell exactly when to scare the bejesus out of you.

Agreed. I like it just how it is to be honest.

Dead space 1 and 2 were some of the best creepiest games i ever played and they were quality games in there own right,however after having early access to Dead Space 3 things are not smelling of roses and i have since cancelled my pre/order because the game did absolutely nothing for me.

Such a shame they seem to have gone and ruined a brilliant Game Franchise by adding stupid co/op and talking away the tense atmosphere that was a dead space game.

Things may be different when the retail product gets released but my first impressions are not good,and many previews from gaming sites seem to say more or less the same.

Dead space on its arrival originally was one of those games that nobody talked about and it really took the gaming world by storm,no it has quite a strong reputation and people are expecting something special and i don't see it.

Why do (plugged in) consoles need 'low power' processors? Heat is one issue I expect (no room for the absolutely massive fan I have on my Intel i7), but apart from that I can't think of any other reason?

I was under the impression that low energy = less heat = more efficient = higher performance?

Probably a bit over simplified.

Generally the cooler processors are the slower ones

Usually first generation of a chip design runs hotter and as they tweak design you keep the performance for lower power consumption, hence why PS3 has got slimmer and less power hungry over the years.

The tablet market has pushed the multiple core arena with cores that turn on/off as needed.

Which is what I was getting at. A lower input whilst maintaining output = higher efficiency = higher relative performance. Over simplified as I said, but I bow to your wider knowledge.

I'm happy to just play the damn things
