I understand what your saying about it not been all about graphics to some people but personally a game that has outstanding Graphics has me hooked pretty quick, obviously if the gameplay is poor then thats another story.
You mention Minecraft and i understand that many people love this game and its 16 bit graphics, but to me mate if this was Gaming i would go take up Golf or train spotting
likewise i never understand why i read so many psn and xbox forum posts about people wanting old playstation 1 games like Jumping Flash etc on the gaming stores.
These are the same people crying out for next generation consoles........Why ?
Why bother upgrading if you want to play games from 10/15 years ago........I just dont get it and why bother with advancement in the first place.
Its just another reason for developers and the likes of Sony and Microsoft to fill the stores with stuff from the past, same with the backward compatibility people want with the next generation consoles, another thing i don't get, obviously it needs to play recent Playstation 3 games but who cares about the rest.
I mean i put games on from a few years back when i thought they were pretty mind blowing at the time only to be looking at them now and thinking this don't look to clever.
Im a graphics [censored] mate and i think that it is of upmost important to draw a gamer in the minute you load that game, there is nothing like a fantastic intro to a new game and i really nice looking menu screen, with a brilliant sound track.
Its the same with music to me in a sort of way,i can listen to a piece of music or a group and know within seconds if i like it,same with gaming only it takes a little longer, may be a few minutes.
There are not many times i have dished a game based on previews and demos and then decided to try it some months later and decide it was really good and i had made a mistake.
Dead Space 3 had me worried ,even cancelled pre/order,but having had second thoughts i bought it and its everything i expected and more, the fear factor has gone a little but put it side by side with what you are unfortunately playing and you can class Dead Space 3 as a Masterpiece.
One redeeming thing you have in your favour is the fact you can return the game,i don't know about the cost to you for doing that, but the general public will have lost £15 within minutes of taking ownership of this pile of doggy pooh.
