The only game gearbox have any decent credit for is Borderlands and personally i did not think this was that exciting but many gamers did.

Apparently as i have mentioned someone else took over or were handed the reigns of the single player and Gearflops took over Multiplayer.

Whatever the reason or the outcome i have read and seen enough about this game that makes me think that even if GearBox done the single player also it would have faired no better.

They are nowhere near a top developers studio and Publisher Sega are also doing themselves no favours and people like yourself and me and many many others will get wiser and become very weary of what they release in the future.

So each time you want a game you pay £12.95 and if you don't like it you post it back for return,if you do like it i guess you have to pay the final balance, judging by what we have seen so far this year [dead space 3 apart] you wont be having to pay to much.

So basically its cost you £12.95 for a late Christmas turkey wink

Yeah £12.95 for a late Christmas turkey and i really don't like turkey and i especially don't like this type of turkey .

Think im done with the game , they're 11 missions and i have already done 3 in just over an hour and im not being energized by the game in any way .

Friend wants to try the game for them self , looks like their getting it early .

Borderlands and the sequal are very good games, though any studio that got lumbered with Duke Nuke em would suffer, the game should have never came out as their was too much expectation of it.

As for Aliens, their have been so many games over the years and its a franchise they will keep turning out games, this title having 4 different studios over 6 years if the claim is ment to be then its hard to blame gearbox entirely and the PC version sufferers less graphical problems then the consoles.

http://uk.ign.com/articles/2013/02/12/how-much-of-al...

Ideally a aliens multiplayer game only would be good if it was done by a small studio funded via kickstater but FOX are very unlikely to release the ip.
The AvP titles done by Rebellion have been very good and profitable, shame the last one was not polished enough but thats down to funding and time.

Though any game based of a film will have a mountain to climb before its even released, its better when the ip is new or less known as theirs not so much expectation.

Its hard to say how much budget they were given but i know if it had gone to the right developer the game would have been a lot better than what we have.

You will be hard pressed finding many reviews that think this game is acceptable by todays standards,Rebellion are not exactly a top developer either as there sniper games prove,AVP 2010 was a masterclass compared to this and that was there game.

Developers such as Retro Studio [more than likely tied to Nintendo] or Dead Space developer Visceral Games would have made something pretty special and given the people who loved the films [me included] something to shout about.

I don't understand why the studio Fox give these licences to developers that are not gifted with great skills compared to others, either them or Sega who obviously bought the Film Rights.

Fact is nearly every Film turned into a game [goldeneye apart] don't turn out to clever and its about time someone did something about it.

I kid you not that they think the name of the film itself is enough for people to buy the game, review embargo until 11.00am bst time this morning gives you a clue.

Daft thing is they may have caught a few thousand people out but once word gets around the internet this game is heading for the nearest game bargain bins very quickly.

Not that i care about this game but this is another reason why next generation consoles are needed pretty soon when you see the XBOX V PC COMPARISON

Possibly but the deal for the rights was between FOX and Sega, a single developer would have been better on this game.
Rebellion have made the best aliens game so far, the 1999 title being the best so if the rights where to go to anyone it should be them and they have had great success with their games.

Doubtful Retro would even know what to do with it, Visceral could make something out of it though with Dead Space loosing the scary factor it would not be the best choice.
The licence was only for 2 games which Sega has published, the rights still belong to fox who seem more then happy enough to let the game be released in its current state.
Its very doubtful their will be many successful films to games as i mentioned in my other post, the bar is set to high and the game is only made to make more money for the film rights holders.

Well the gap has always been large and will continue to be until consoles are no longer around, have to wait and see if the companys will release this year.

You make some valid points ccxo and I'm glad you add your views and opinions in these gaming forums,i rant on about how this game has turned out and i just wish that i was praising games and not putting them down as much as i seem to be doing last year or so.

Many games just don't seem to cut the mustard and end up as average at best even though previews of the build tell us otherwise.

I just hope come march I'm not complaining about Bioshock Infinite and the other 3/4 games i have on order, the playstation exclusive the last of us has slipped in the release schedule once again until June, but i know this game will be top notch along with Watchdogs [favourite developer at present Ubisoft] and i think tomb raider will be a good game.

Not sold on the multiplayer of Crysis 3 after playing the beta, but then again i play this for the single player experience and the only online game i tend to enjoy more than anything is gears 3 horde mode.[awesome game] and i just hope the new developer People can fly [Bulletstorm] hit the mark when Gears 4 arrives in March.

Most games these days are shipped before they are finished, its rare to find games that do not have a day 1 patch, but its all down to how much money/time the developer has to polish the game.

A few games have recently been funded via kickstarter and have budget of a few $million, will be interesting to see how they turn out as its a small development studio supported by the community- the games are all PC titles.
If things all go well and the game does shift a large amount of units then we could see alot more games pitched to the community to see if they are worth funding (those that start and then fail to reach their targets- all money is refunded).

Bioshock series has so far been very well recieved and they are taking the time to polish off Infinite so things do look promising from IR.
Last of Us and Watchdogs not really seen too much of the games so far but i would not put too much on them.
Tomb Raider games are either hit or miss, its a pretty long series now with plenty of games.

Crysis is all about the SP and 3 is a return to what Crysis was, multiplayer is not bad but expect the same from 2.
Gears of War never really saw the excitement in this game but its one for the console market, its PC port flopped but Epic really need to go back to Unreal.

On the contrary, these two games are exactly the type we need if they do indeed turn out as polished as the previews have shown us, both with an interesting take on their genre.

And as far as a The Last of Us goes, I don't think over expectation will be an issue with Naughty Dog.

This to me is the disaster that became Duke Nuke Em Forever and coming from the same developer then the writing is on the wall.
I never imagined the same developer could fail so spectacularly for the second time. This hopefully will be the death knell for them.

In the hands of Rockstar or Naughty Dog (to name just two) this game could and should have been epic. I'm starting to think Gearbox as a developer have made a name for themselves in terms of the lowest bidder, with firms such as SEGA getting exactly what they paid for. frown
