I also think i understand that the realise of these next gen console is a good thing for all gaming platforms as it finally pushes the development cycle along . That's right 3 year old PC looks terrible and struggles to play new games ( how it used to be )
Now i backed away from PC gaming when the xbox 360 and PS3 came out as i could not justify how much i would have to invest in my PC system to bring it up to a comparable console specification ( at the time ) .
But this gaming rig i now have was brought second hand about a year ago from a friend that was off to travel the world ( yeah i robbed him ), its about 2 maybe 3 years old and still competitive .
Hang on ! nearly three years old and still competitive , and yes im talking about a gaming rig that when i was a real enthusiast PC gamer you had a three year life cycle before you had to look at complete rebuilds .
So that's it really , PC gaming is about to get expensive again as playing a new realise on ultra setting on 3 year old hardware only shows how stagnated PC gaming has become from a 7 year life cycle of the console .
If i remember rightly the Xbox 360 and PS3 had a 4 year window in which mainstream PC gaming could not compete on price and performance , don't get me wrong a top of the line PC could still outperform a console on the console day of release but a top of the line PC is not mainstream , its elites and very expensive . myself and many others feel that a 5 year life cycle for a console is about right if they had done a 5 year , i probably never would of brought a new gaming PC .
So finally get to my point , as in welcome back the three year life cycle the constant upgrades the constant money spending the jumping between platforms in the hunt for the best bang for buck gaming experience . Its a real shame my bank manger does not have the same enthusiasm for gaming as i have .
