Re: The negativity surrounding the new Xbox One.....

Totally Agree mate and i hope that those loyal gaming fans leave them in there droves and elope to the Playstation 4,i would say the PC but thats owned basically by Microsoft.

Seriously i hope that people vote with there wallets and Microsoft go down the same console route as Sega But for different reasons, and one of those reasons is Greed and another is this has nothing to do with Games and Gamers which built the Xbox Brand in the First place.

You have to seriously ask who is responsible for this god dam terrible decision to bring out fundamentally a Media Centre with Kinect 2.0 and Voice recognition and a tie in with EA games that nobody gives a Toss about.

Take away the success of the Nintendo wii [a one of]and just look at the sales of the Nintendo Wii U the Xbox Brand was the console of choice for a serious Gamer [consoles that is not PC]........Why would you throw that down the gutter.

Could be the spies in there camp got the wrong information and thought that Sony would do the same thing,or clever Sony let them think that is what they were going to do.

Either way these machines would have been in development for years and there basically is no way of turning back.

I think its a interesting thought really given that Sony has Smart Televisions and other media devices, get the wrong information on what you think your competitor is doing and hey presto you end up with this Xbox One Garbage.

Interesting

Article

And i may yet revert to buying one after this event on Tuesday Evening and especially if they bring a new Zelda Or Metroid to the show.

TV side, suspect it will be just a HDMI pass through for UK and many regions. So still needing remote to change channels, and no data integration, unless Sky manage to get an app into the device that is more than just a video player.

The PS2 never really died, so the xbox 360 may do the same, carrying on for some years in various forms.

Now if smartglass can be made more useful e.g. better server browser.

In things like BF/COD running a larger map on the smartglass would be more akin to real life with referring to maps to decide where to go what to do.

Smartglass is using your tablet as an extra screen? Yeah, having a better mini map would be good for BF3, GTAIV etc. I hate (and I mean HATE) the mini map in BF3. It sucks big time.

The only positive thing i saw from the Xbox One [stupid name] presentation was there commitment and announcement that it will ship worldwide Holiday 2013.

Now if Sony are wise and have learnt there lesson they will do exactly the same, because as we know they have stated at the moment with there Feb Reveal that it will ship Holiday 2013 in at least one territory .

Holiday 2013?? When is that??
Not that I'm bothered but I have no idea what holiday 2013 means.

Yep, they have shafted their user base in favor of the shareholder its as simple as that, jumped in bed with EA just to spit roast you and me for extra measure, though I saw that one coming last week. Banged on about TV and more [censored] TV, a good dose of Sports and Football America. When it came to game CoD, a [censored] dog, just like in Fable well I was [censored] amazed, not.

In summary it was a braying donkey that springs to mind.

ea are a company that decimated good devs. buy sell keep the best before they even came to fruitition.

The new Microsoft Media Centre

[re: time2die] [link to this post]

The two things which really annoy me about the Xbox One that I just can't ignore or be positive about at all (even from MS' point of view) is the definite requirement for always on internet (regardless if that's constant or not) and the blocking of borrowing games. Both unforgivable and unnecessary conditions in my opinion.

Oh, and I should add the requirement to buy the Kinect and always have that attached in order to use the console is ludicrous and alienating too (how many people want to have an active camera system connected to the web pointed their way 24 hours a day?)

Most of the people I know who have an Xbox 360 don't have broadband at all. Full stop. Actually that's everyone apart from some of the guys on this forum. And they don't live in emerging markets or developing countries or in highly isolated rural areas. They live in cities. And they buy trade in games and trade in games they've bought full price in order to... play more games! Duh. Microsoft!!! Now, even if they wanted to upgrade to the new Xbox they can't. They're stuck with the old one.

I actually felt ambivalent about the new Xbox and all its media features and innovative (gimicky) functions before as I wanted to remain open minded and be a little more positive and thoughtful about acknowledging and accepting MS' long held view of becoming a central entertainment hub. They're not alone in this ambition but they're certainly going about it the wrong with in cannibalising a very succesful games console, ripping its guts out and plonking it back in, trojan horse fashion, as a new console. It makes me think I wouldn't be surprised to see an Xbox 720 announced at E3 just for gaming but probably just not this year.

Yeah, c'mon Microsoft. Release the real succesor to the Xbox 360 as well as a media centre that happens to play games like a PC.
