Sony already has a streaming/cloud service in Gaikai so I don't really see what Microsoft has that Sony do not?
no they don't have any kind of cloud service . Gaikai is not confirmed and will not be a service you can use for a while yet , if at all .

astateoftrance has already told you Sony has a cloud service called Gaikai which will go live 2014 so you are either ignoring the fact or can not see past Microsoft.

We shall see what sells the best and how many users each Platform has in the next 12 months, all the Microsoft needs is another over heating issue and its basically Game Over.

Obviously i don't expect this to happen but who knows ?

You Bert are obviously in the Microsoft Camp and a fair few other on here are in the Sony Camp, nothing wrong with all of us having a little banter as to which we think is better.

Until release and about 12/18 months only then will we get the facts and figures regarding which is better and which is coming out on top.

For that we need to see the Cloud service offered by Microsoft and how that shows of Games wise, and what games come to each Platform.

Like i said if Microsoft console is a success and they have exclusive games that everybody raves on about i will go out and buy one,but until that happens I'm more than happy to stick purely with my Playstation 4.

So where exactly did astateoftrance say the Gaikai service ( that's not even confirmed) would be going live in 2014 ?.

The way I'm reading astateoftrance posts , is its already a done deal , which it most definitely is not . and also the fact your trying to compare Gaikai service with what Microsoft are offering means you dont fully understand what is on offer .

I know this is going to barrack you but I don't think you actually want to understand how big a deal this is , as it does not suit your preferred choice .

agreed . apart from I'm in nobody's camp except my own and feel no allegiance to any platform or manufacture but do enjoy debating .

In a roundtable interview at Tokyo Game Show today, Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida said that Sony plans to launch Gaikai cloud services with a library of PS3 games in North America next year.
A selection of games will be available at launch, which will expand over time - Yoshida mentioned that users will want a good selection of titles to browse through from the beginning, like with Netflix, so the plan is to launch with a decent number of available games. They will be available to play through PS4, PS Vita and the recently-announced Vita TV.

Sony will launch this service in 2014 in North America. Asked about plans for European territories, Yoshida had no specific timeframe to share, but it is likely to be after the North American launch.

IGN Article here

So yes it is confirmed Gaikai is coming to PS4, PS Vita and PS TV in 2014.

Not confirmed for Europe . and where do you live ?

And not forgetting there are 12 months in 2014 and saying something so vague should not be something to shout about . 2015 ? Maybe . that will be catch up then .

From what I have read Microsoft are offering the option to do some of the games computations in the cloud so that the game can be better than it could have been just running off the console. The current known plans for Gaikai are that it will run the whole game in the cloud and stream it all to your console. This is already a step ahead of what Microsoft are offering though it will obviously need more bandwidth. Surely though if Sony want to they can also use Gaikai to do part of the computation for a game if they choose to.

The short form answer is yes.
