Good idea Jorkila, I think I recall that pingtest site has some more advanced tools to measure connection stats?

My own ping and bandwidth results.

I am sure Killzone exceeds anything I've seen on the PC for graphics, including Skyrim all souped up with the texture pack and modded to the hilt. Sometimes it's more about the artist's creative vision and palette that makes for appealing visuals rather than sheer detail alone. Would love to see this and play it in single player, even give multiplayer a go.

Don't know how you'd feel about PC gaming Nelly? It looks very much like you'd enjoy the experience to be honest. You seem to be craving the types of online games that work best for PC. Do you think you could rent a gaming PC for a bit? Is there such a service? I'd loan you mine if you could pick it up but I'd have to give it a deep clean if ya know what I mean. Get rid of all the naughty stuff. tongue

Can't believe there are no server filtering options? I've got an idea though but wouldn't know how to implement it but could you try to connect your router via a proxy server someplace then you can put Jorkila's suggestion into practise. I don't think downloading is going to interrupt you ping and latency too much as your bandwidth is probably far too high: that said the upload side should if you can seed a popular torrent or somesuch but that just seems a little but worth trying just as a temporary measure.

As for the sniper side in BF4. It can take several hits at times. There are GUN symbols at designated points on certain maps and you'll find a unique weapon including a very high powered sniper rifle (a proper one shot to kill model). The trouble is there's these defensive perks you can equip that increase the amount of damage you can take and there can be medic supplies about too plus you begin to heal quite quickly and I'm not sure how long it was between the 2 shots. A headshot would have earned you more points but by all accounts you got more than 75% player damage as you got a 'Kill Assist counts as Kill' message. For all you know the guy could have only had 5% or less health left when you'd finished with him and someone else cleaned up after you. That used to happen a lot with me in BF2 so it's good you finally get some credit (fair play DICE).

It's far too early for you to come to the conclusion the game is flat out not worth playing and you will adjust and your score will dramatically improve. Ccxo is right about learning the maps as you'll have a far better idea about where to expect enemy and can filter things better to narrow your focus.

I'm getting better myself. It's only taken me about 100 hours of playing so far and I am only really just starting to understand the maps. Ok, so I am admittedly a bit of a slow learner but it does make an enormous difference. I was playing Silk Road last night and got stuck with some noobhead in an APC who was completely wasting our time shooting into the air at a helo too high for him when he should have been far more focused and heading off to a capture point. Needless to say the chopper was an attack model and destroyed us before I even had the chance to hop out.

See, your 18ms is a weird one. My line is almost the same as SPOOK, so saturating the upload would be unrealistic. Also, he is on PC so has server options to reduce the risks of high pingers. But why don't you suffer as bad? And Timey as well? I need to talk to my ISP first and see if there are routing issues.

For example, on Blacklight Retribution I can see my ping and it is always between 60 and 180ms. It is only a *Beta and in my experience things normally get worse on release proper (too many players and not enough servers means accurate matchmaking normally gives way to demand), but you can see that your ping is better matched. You can also see that a 100ms advantage between matched ability is still substantial and the guys on180ms are harder too kill than those on 60-80 (like me) which is likely why pro gamers are so retentive with regard to lower ping times.

You for example, could have a different route when gaming, increasing your latency. I hear back haul has an effect on latency too, so talking to my ISP may enlighten me even if they cannot do anything about it.

*When I played BFBC and BF3, both betas were ok. Not great, but ok. On release, both were unplayable for me.

I'm pretty rubbish with a sniper rifle and I rarely get kills but seem to die a lot from others with the same kit. I.m sure you know that in BF games you have to allow for bullet drop over distances.

Meeting up at Spooks sounds like a great idea smile

It's not just me then.

http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/forum/threadvie...

Haven't had a chance to speak to Plusnet yet, but the guys at Aquiss agreed that low ping was a distinct disadvantage without accurate matchmaking. Pity I couldn't afford to stay with them. frown

Doesn't explain why jorky thinks his is fine unless he has worse routing to their servers, which is exactly what I want to discuss with Plusnet. I'm assuming I connect through Plusnet > Playstation Network > DICE? If I could ping the PSN from my PC we could compare with other users here and possibly eliminate that first?

Can you go through a proxy server? Is that even an option or even worth pursuing?

crazy

Well, the link you give makes for interesting reading. frown
