Seems a first for a new game?

That's the way it should be and hopefully that will become the norm. Microsoft said recently they want to lower the prices of digital games.

Should be, but not always : Sometimes it is cheaper to buy something from Play.com rather than a digital download (usually from Valve).

Plus, of course, unopened boxed items on eBay can be cheaper too - BF3 was for me...

There's absolutely no reason a digital copy should be more expensive than a physical one

Its because EA (and to a slightly lesser extent, Valve), so no difference between a retail copy of something and a download version. It could also be regarded as greed, but that is only a slight part of it.

To prove my point, XCom: Enemy unknown is (at the most expensive) £14.68
Same game on Steam is £29.99

Wait a few days, and you can save yourself over £15!

sadly in this case I think its because namco are marking up the retail copies rather than discounting digital.

The price premium on the retail copies outside of north america is over 50%. In america digital and retail are similiar priced, but in EU and australia the digital is about the same as america with retail almost double price.

Don't let them win, do like me and wait until the price drops before buying.

I used to do that all the time, until they started cutting bits out of games to readd as a preorder bonuses.

What I think I will probably do with this game is buy it on psn, and consider buying it later on disc for collector reasons if its good enough.

On the PS3 it's almost always cheaper to buy a physical copy of a game than a digital download.

That's what I do...last full price game I bought was BF: BC2.
