This Alien Isolation has me a tad worried, just read some gaming journalist thoughts and impressions and he isn't impressed, said the developers said the way the alien is varies from game to game..He says this isn't so and its predictable.crazy.

He also claims that it not the game we are all expecting and its back to the drawing board for the franchise, hope this is just utter garbage.

What does worry me the fact that games getting released in only a matter of days do not have review scores like they used to in the past apart from the odd blockbuster like COD.

That to me always says Alarm Bells at the ready and why again did i preorder.?

I really don't care if the Alien does the same thing each time and is predictable from game to game as I'll only be playing it once probably and pretty much every game the enemy does the same thing.
From what I read a little while ago someone said the game had gone from having very little weapons etc and having to hide etc to having more weapons and fair few more enemys (humans and synthetics) which put me off a little but other people have said they are more interested in it.

Just got round to playing this and I'm hooked after a few hours.

First of all I just went running around like a loon saw a load of slaves and decided I was the man to free them, Well it turned out not to be one of my better ideas, I ended up fighting a good 10-15 orcs at once and a captain and above me was 4 or 5 archers, I had no problems holding off the orcs it was the archers that hit me as I had no idea when the arrow was coming due to the sheer numbers of other enemys, Anyway long story short an archer killed me and ended up getting promoted because of it.
The same archer then decided he was going to try to progress further up the chain of command and attacked a higher boss which didn't go well for him and he ended up being killed and the victor gained more power.
I won't go into to much more but since then I've seen bosses fight each other, I've let animals out of cages to kill bosses it's such a good game.
You can see why this is an 18 as well, the carnage you can do on this game is great, slitting throats and chopping off heads left right and centre.
The Nemesis system is what takes this very good game into a great game for me, It really is one of the best things I've seen in a game for a good number of years.

Sounds really good if it's your type of game, unfortunately there is not a lot rocking my boat the past year or so,alien isolation isn't exactly ringing my bells at present.

Am I surprised .....not really as they always seem to completely turn fantastic films into basic run of the mill average games at best.

Why I will never know, but if I was to take a guess I would say it's a chance for small unheard of developers who are not renown for making brilliant games to use the Films Name and success to bring in the buyers ....

Makes me tempted to buy it actually, especially when I see all of these 9+ first class reviews and you going on about.

Watched some vids and it does look interesting,if I hadn't got Forza tomorrow and The Evil Within a few days later I would have bought it.....Still might.....can trade Forza for it Friday crazy

Im so tempted to get this tomorrow based on the outstanding reviews and the way they seem to have nailed the combat mechanics.

OK I won't do it justice but basically.........

Think of the enemy as an army

They have mainly standard enemys to fight but there are captains as well (think of them as mini bosses) they each have different strengths and weaknesses which you can find out by finding intel and interrogating some enemy, Then you have the next rank up and so on for another 2 or 3 ranks, Finally you have 5 war generals (I think they were called something like that), Basically they are the top guys and have a couple bodyguards and generally don't come out to fight unless certain things are done.

What's good about it though is if you kill a couple of captains then eventually a lower ranked enemy will get promoted and take his place, Also they have fights within the ranks as they are all looking for promotion, So for instance a 4th tier captain may try to ambush a tier 3 guy and attempt to kill him, So he may fail to kill him and run off or he could even kill him and take his place.

Each enemy is given a power rating and whoever wins basically gets another point added to their rating and they become stronger. (say for instance they become immune to ranged attacks)
If a bog standard guy ends up killing you (tends to be an archer as if you are in a big fight it's hard to dodge the arrows) then he will end up getting promoted to captain and then gets a snazzy name and becomes stronger etc it's pretty darn clever.

Now they also have other ways to level/power up as well such as having a feast or even assassinating a fellow captain, Now you can select these missions and then decide what you want to do, So you can either wait for one guy to kill the other (and so he will level up) or you can go in and take them both out etc.

Also say your fighting a captain if he's nearly dead he may try to escape, If he gets away then you will more than likely get to see him later in the game, This time at the cut scene he will remember the last fight etc and may have scars etc on his face and say something relevent to the last fight, Take one of mine for instance,
I was fighting with a creature against a captain and a load of other enemys, Well the creature got killed and the captain ran off..........The next time I fought him he said something along the lines of "Not got your pet with you this time I see, Now I'm going to get revenge for what you did to my face"
As you kill the captains they will be replaced with unknown captains so you will first have to interrogate an enemy to find out his name and then find some intel or interrogate a fellow captain to find out another captains weakness.

As I said before I don't really do it justice here but it's basically an ever evolving enemy system which remembers past encounters/fights etc.

There is other stuff you can do as well but I won't go into that as it's part of the storyline but again it can change the way you take on the enemy.

This game for me is easily the best game I've played this year and for me is deserving of it's 90+ rating that a lot of places gave it.
