First, most games I play have a lot more than 15 hours. That may be due to my genre been RPG, but thats how it is for me.
Second I dont often buy games at £40, I will only buy at that price if I am really confident its going to be very very good and the preorder bonuses I consider significant.
Third if I sold a game on say day 2 or 3 after release, I would expect more than 50% of the value back. Looking on ebay most people selling used games for about 80% of RRP.
Of course on the other hand I wouldnt buy a used game for 80% of RRP unless there was no stock of new games.

Think of all the negative feedback sony got for their PSN game rental service a few months back, those prices for rental are actually superior to buying a game for £40, playing it for a couple of days and then getting rid for £20, you are effectively then renting the game for £20.
