I dont need to see your reference articles , i already run a high end AMD gaming PC ( proper budget gamer ) with 8 cores and a 290x and have been using Steams Big Screen since the first day of rediscovering PC gaming .
Being as i like to fight for the oppressed ( former TALKTALK customer ) i can tell you , allot of what is said by PC elitists about AMD products is very much like what people say about TalkTalk service without actually using it . Lots of assumptions of what they think it should be like form cherry picked negative reviews , over many years , tends to distort the reality , whilst reaffirming their purchase of a much more expensive option .
All i know is Windows 8 runs so much better on my 8 core CPU than windows 7 does , new games run better on my 8 core CPU than old ones and more and more things are being optimised for multi threaded use .
Nvidia are fighting dirty , with proprietary programming technologies , that have been the main cause of AMD driver issues of late , i dont see this being a huge problem in the future but people buy propriety and Apple is testament to that .
Anybody that thinks , having a couple of very powerful cores versus a multitude of less powerful cores is better , obviously have not been paying attention , as the PC is finally moving from single core performance being king to multithreaded being the future .
And now all we need is the bench tests they use to support one product being superior to another ,to start to actually use the cores that are available to said bench test , which will now happen as Intel have a super expensive X99 systems that will need justifying , so the benchmarks will duly follow but that will realise the true power of a FX 8 core and those decisions to buy intel i5 might not look so good in a multi threaded future .
