Its amazing how much more performance can be had out of changing the bios, as well as it can resolve stability issues.
I think nvidia aggressively capped power on maxwell cards to push the power savings marketing. After raising the limit of my card from just 187 watts up to 275 watts a lot of extra performance has been unlocked, albeit with less power efficiency and more heat.. Some people are even disabling power saving, I havent gone that far so the card will still run at low clocks in light games. Currently have 2 bios's one which is slower but still about 15% better than stock with only a little more heat and average power usage. One I am on now will push the card more.
Following temps that are quoted above 60 are with 50% fan speed.
Default bios VDDC limit 1.175v temps under load in heavy games mid 60s
Current bios after many revisions VDDC limit 1.256v temps in heavy games low to mid 70s
Alternate bios with VDDC limit 1.206v temps in heavy games high 60s, power usage also is not much higher than stock, May use this long term not sure yet.
Also applied my memory/gpu overclock and fan profile to the bios's so they no longer need tuning in software.
e.g. on the 3rd bios the power usage averages around 68% in project cars, 68% of the higher power limit is only about 2 watts higher than the default limit.
On the current bios it averages around 80% but can get higher occasionally.
I have pushed the card as high as 1.281v, but it does get pretty hot with that voltage. Some people have pushed it over 1.3v but they have water cooling.
