Internal vs external xbox one

Thinking of getting an external drive. Not for storage as such bit because external drives seem to be faster and games like Fallout appear to run more smoothly on them

Anyone use one and if so which one? Does a 7200rpm drive give a noticeable performance boost over a 5400rpm usb3 drive?

wouldn't have a clue,i don't play the xbox one that much up until This Rise of the Tomb Raider which is a exceptional game.

the answer is yes, although i dont think it will be that noticeable.

Performance increases more simply from getting a bigger drive or an ssd.

I play various games on my pc of a 5400rpm because the loading times are still short enough, but of course certian games which have really stupid loading times I have on the ssd.

The reason a bigger hdd is faster is (a) it has more space to use before fragmentation gets bad enough and (b) bigger spindles tends to mean faster speeds.

Mates have said their 5400rpm external gives better performance than the internal with Fallout especially. My guess is the HDD is busy running the OS and running Xbox Live aswell as the game, where as an external has just the game to run
