PC hardware suffers the other way round, lots of GPU grunt, but lower video ram specs.
Some people are predicting the current 3-4 gig cards on the market such as the 970,980 and current some current AMD cards may be struggling only within 12 months as more high vram usage console ports get carried over, only time will tell tho.
I do agree the wii-u is a huge failure commercially, but I dont like like fast turnover of consoles, it burns those people who invested in the platform, and hurts even more when new peripherals are needed and is no backward compatibility.
3 consoles seems one too many on the market, I think nintendo would be better just making games but they are stubborn and insist on having their own platform.
If you remember the older consoles like the super nintendo and megadrive had expansion ports where they could later bring out hardware upgrades to attach, this meant the consoles had a longer lifespan and had the advantage of getting more powerful over time, this is what I think they should be doing on current gen consoles.
