Nope, just had this whole debate with GTA 5. It ran better on external drives due to limits of the IDE/SATA controller on the mainboard of the Xbox One. Digital Foundary I think it was.
Most USB 3.0 external drives are spooling at 7200rpm, where as the internal spools up at 5400rpm. Makes a massive difference when loading games etc.
If you Google it, there is proof out there that most slowdown on Xbox One is caused by the 500GB hard disk. They changed the hard drive with the 1TB version, that contains a hybrid SSD to improve loading times.
