So you mean you can't turn off automatic update? I have windows 10 installed but use Ubuntu most of the time.

its required for microsoft published games but thats it.

All the other publishers games are on all versions of windows, even most them work still on XP.

If vulkan becomes widely adopted then that will very likely not be limited to windows 10 as it will work on any modern version of windows and other OS also like android and linux.

I hated it when it launched, but the reality is with a start menu tool installed it's actually very similar to windows 7 except with more modern technologies.

on home version you cannot.

on pro version you can sort of turn it off, but its not the same as what you can do on win 8.1 and 7, and in addition you have to use an extra tool to skip updates you dont want, a messy process on the whole. Also I think the new threshold builds are not skippable if you value security as microsoft stop supplying security updates to obsolete builds.

Maybe one day microsoft will sort all this out, but until then I wont be using it on my main rig or laptop. The privacy leaking stuff doesnt bother me near as much, its the updating system on it I dont like.

Interesting quote from that article:

Just before you call me anti-Microsoft, a Linux shill, zealot or fanatic, here's a wonderful list of Linux problems that I've been compiling over the past six years. The truth is I don't plead allegiance to any OS on the market. So, sorry, Windows 10 sucks no less than Linux sucks, it just sucks differently
