I still don't understand why they can't make the slim to start with.

Could it be that they are releasing a console equivalent to the XBOX S, so maybe 4k playback and a boost for VR..then a new console next year to counter the Scorpio. That would make sense.

Maybe, but whatever came next year would not then be a huge leap over the so called Neo, so would people pay the extra? If the Neo really is capable of GTX970 type visuals, but with more RAM and compute/engines, blah blah blah, what would they need to do to better it in any worthwhile manner?

Interesting times next year I think, but either way a Neo is the way forward for me, although I might live to regret it!?! confused

Scrap my theory. Didn't realize Eurogamer had confirmed the PS4 slim posted in this thread is legit.

So we are having 2 new playstations. Don't see the need for the slim but I expect it is cheaper for Sony to produce.

bear in mind the scorpio's quoted performance levels are quite far ahead for both cpu and gpu over the neo, for that reason I can see sony releasing something again before the end of 2018. The console hardware situation is getting messy (and expensive).

Scorpio is predicted to be around 600-700usd to buy.

Given the successful sales microsoft had of the 360 slim, it would not surprise me one bit if it was found out microsoft deliberately bundled a external power brick with the original xbox one (as well as the weak spec), so they could sell a new console easily to all the existing xbox one owners after 2-3 years.

Sony won't wait until 2018 to compete with the Scorpio as that would be stupid,i think the Scorpio personally is the reason the Neo has not been talked about and there has been no confirmed release date,i think they upgraded the Neo specs if I'm honest.

well they cannot use the same cpu as the scorpio if they release this year as amd are not releasing the architecture until 2017.

Why would anyone buy the slim for more money than the standard ps?

That would be a stupid price point, good luck Sony! and how much more would a Neo be?

Well it makes me feel I did the right thing picking up a PS4 when I did.
