More importantly, what�s the cure for an arrow to the knee? Well both knees actually. It�s currently severely limiting my motorbikeability.

I too suffer the arrow to the knee when riding. The trick is not to move the bike about while you're sat on it, if that doesn't help buy a lower bike

I presume you tried the normal thing like reinstall the drivers and that sort of thing?

i have a Asus xonar DX and it is a amazing card, they do a cheaper version which a mate used and that was good as well,

have a look at this, not cheap cheap, but a flipping good card

It's onboard sound so I didn't think it had drivers?

Onboard has drivers - everything has some sort of drivers, it may be they use MS default drivers or specific drivers but it will be using some. The sound chip will be from a specific manufacturer and they may have drivers on their website that you could try. Look up your motherboard and see what sound chip it uses and go from there.

All hardware have drivers, as been said by ian72, they may have Ms drivers, but they still need drivers.
The sound chip on your board is a Realtek ALC1150, most boards have realtek in , so you need the High definition drivers

realtek own site have some here, i never realised that they have not been updated since 2017, but I suppose they do not need to be, MSI have some here.

But I think they are the same anyway as they are the same date.

i love my little Asus card, they don't make it anymore sadly. another mate of mine is going to buy the higher end product for music production
