What is the best speed my line can give?

[link to this post]

I need a bit of help in knowing that is the best speed I wil be able to get on my line.

Your exchange is ADSL enabled, and our initial test on your line indicates that your line should be able to have an ADSL broadband service that provides a line rate up to 2Mbps.
Our test also indicates that your line should be able to support a potential ADSL Max broadband line rate of 8Mbps.
The actual ADSL Max line rate supportable will be determined during the first 10 days of use, after which time the highest stable rate possible will be set.
If you decide to place an order, a further test will be performed to confirm if your line is suitable for the service you wish to purchase.
Thank you for your interest.

This is what my router tells me

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2272 kbps 288 kbps
Line Attenuation 28 db 7.5 db
Noise Margin 30 db 30 db 30 db

I am using a netgear DG834 wired router which can be upgraded to upgradeable to ADSL 2+ when it is available in my area

from www2.farina1.com/calc.htm

8Mbps - assumming your downstream noise margin is stable.

In short - you have a short line that is running well from the data we have seen

Very reasonable stats. You should be able to get 12-14Mbps on ADSL2+. Check the LLU providers supporting your exchange - try UKOnline, or Sky Broadband.

that checker puts a big emphasis on attenuation, the estimated speeds suddenly halve when over 43db so 43db 30 snr on 512kbit estimated synch 8192 but with 44db atten estimated synch 4096kbit.

Andrews & Arnold
atten 50 - line dist 1.65 straight - 2.96 actual
