Dropping Sync Speed

[link to this post]

My Sync speed dropped today to 544kb, after rebooting my router it re-synced at 3.5mb (which is what it is normally set to)

How long will it take before my download speeds increase again?

Also, is there any reason why my connection synced so low?

Probably at least three days (if your sync was low for more than 75 minutes).

Also, is there any reason why my connection synced so low?

Probably a noise spike (maybe a boiler igniting, a plasma TV or streetlight switching on - could be anything).

Keep a close eye on your noise margin over the next few days, to see if it fluctuates (more than a few db signifies EM or RF interference is affecting your connection).

What router do you have? Maybe it's the type that can be monitored (there's a lot of monitoring software around).

Maybe carry out the checks/suggestions made here.

Thanks, I plugged my router into the master socket and found I then sync at nearly 6mb !

So I guess for starters I am loosing half the speed through the telephone extension sockets.

Any advice where I can buy decent quality cable and face plates? I guess I will need to use CAT 5 cable?

Try removing the ring wire on all sockets. All wires to terminal 3.
