Re: Remove ring wire in master socket,brown wire l

[re: Apprentice] [link to this post]

Looking again at the link,it is the same socket.

My setup then is

2= 2 blue wires
3= 2 green wires
4=empty
5= 2 orange wires

So gently remove the 2 green wires from terminal 3 is what i could do.

Yes. Nothing needs to be connected to T3, and the other end will be either loose or connected to another T3. If it is connected to anything else at the other end, then whatever the chap doing the wiring intended, it ain't working!!

Make sure it doesn't actually touch any metal though.

Thanks.

Like i said on another post, there is only 1 row of terminals on the master socket in the order 2,3,4,5 with wires setup like this.

2= 2 blue wires
3= 2 green wires
4=empty
5= 2 orange wires.

the occupied terminals have a wire on top of another wire,i just wanted to make sure it was
ok to remove both green wires from terminal 3.

remove both green wires from terminal 3, one presumes you have two extensions leading off this socket

pins 2 & 5 carry the phone signal, the pin 3 is the ring signal which most modern phones don't need and a microfilter will create this for you anyway
