Internet problems: ISP at fault?

[link to this post]

I always used to sync at 6-7mb with an SNR of ~6 on BT broadband. But over the past 6 months I have had no end of problems, frequent net drops (every few minutes some times), latency to UK servers in the hundreds, etc.

Had BT Engineers out who said there was nothing wrong my end. They also say there is nothing wrong their end or at the exchange and that it must be interference with an electrical device in or around my property. But im not convinced.

Most of the time problems only occur between 4pm-12pm which leads me to believe that BT are over subscribed and are just lying to me so i have just given my MAC address to ADSL24/Entanet. Im just wondering if this was the right thing to do? do you think my line will stable out after moving away from BT?

At the moment my connection is really random, for example yesterday my downstream noise margin was 30. and sync speed was 0.8mb.Today my downstream noise margin is 12 and my sync speed is 4.6mb. My downstream attenuation is normally around 40.

Below are my line stats as retrieved from telnetting to my router, can you see anything wrong that im missing? Samknows.com says I am 2.60km from the exchange.

"do you think my line will stable out after moving away from BT?"
No. You say your line rate is varying from 0.8 Mbits to over 4Mbps . I susspect the BT tech was probably right and there is some source of local inteference that is affecting your line. This is also bourne out by the times you say service affected (4-12pm) i.e. when kids come home , central heating and TV's are turned on, Xmas Tree Lights are turned on/off. Any of these and more besides can affect ADSL.
1st you should test from the NTE5 Test socket to eliminate house phone wiring.

"1st you should test from the NTE5 Test socket to eliminate house phone wiring"

When the engineers came round they tested the line at various places from the box at the end of my street, to my phone socket. They replaced a lot of cables as they went along. They even changed the phone socket itself to one with a filtered face plate.

They determined in the end that there was an above average number of errors on the line, but not enough to explain the problems I have been having (although they tested it early morning when its normally fine). I don
