Not sure of noise TBH.

20% of the cable run will be alongside mains electrical cable. 40% alongside SKY+ co-axial. 40% on its own. Forgot to mention...total cable run will be 20M max, so distance not a problem (although USB is out ).

Add to that anything else that gets run from the PC to the telly.

Plenty of potential noise there. More importantly, is the phone cable to your house in the air or underground (up poles or down holes) ?

Under ground, and it's a brand new line in a new build estate. Connection is good.

I'd definitely recommend shielded cable in that case.

Twin Talk is a little hardware device that detects a distinctive ring. It means that you order a second number from BT and when that number is called the ring pattern is different. The Twin Talk unit monitors the ring pattern and then rings either your phone or fax.

The advantage is you get a completely separate number for your fax but there is a slight delay of one or two rings while the twin-talk unit detects the ring type and directs the call before your phone starts ringing.

Did you pick up on what I think Andrew meant? As you won't have anything coming out of the Master Socket ADSL socket, if you still have the original unfiltered faceplate then you could easily wire to the back of that. Avoid paying for the modified Clarity one.

Or just get a simple faceplate if you have scrapped it.

You can get problems when using some makes and models of DECT phones with Twin Talk if caller display is enabled. This is a "glitch" with the operation of the phones, not with Twin Talk, which causes the phone to ring when a calller display ID is detected.

Yes, but (also with respect) is it fair to ask for advice and then ignore it ?

With that setup you have a huge risk of noise pickup, which you could so easily avoid.

I'm not ignoring any input, but I don't want any PC/ADSL kit the lounge.
