Yes, I couldn't think immediately of what could cause those figures. The router on it's last legs could do.

Edit - or the ADSL cable has got yanked and is barely making contact in the master socket.

Thanks for the help/comment. If I ever get round to dismantling the bookcase and manage to hook up to the master socket, I'll let you know what numbers I get.
