broadband speed choice

hi there, this is my first post
firstly please excuse my lack of knowledge and terminology with things broadband related.
secondly , please help before my head explodes !
thirdly , please offer this help using simple terminology and explanations!!

i have just moved and am looking to sort out my broadband.
i was previously with eclipse ( home select) and was very happy with its speed and reliability.
i was then on exchange:NDRAM

now we have moved to exchange:NDSAN
we went for a sky package incl broadband , but because we are now in in a non LLU area we couldnt have the bog standard package and had to go for broadband connect.( i think thats the reason!)
however we have been up and running for 3 days and its rubish speed
Download 0.11 Mbps
Upload 0.05 Mbps
so i am wanting to cancel it within the 8 day cooling off period. having read bad reviews about sky broadband connect with respect to speed and traffic shaping i dont feel i even want to wait to see if the speed improves.

so my distilled queries are...

1. if i went back with eclipse would i get as good as eclipse speed at this address as i did before?
i asked and was told the max i could expect was 6mbps which was also the max at the previous address- but was told it would be slightly slower than at old address- but i didnt understand why,anyone able to explain this to me?


2.is it likely that the exchange we are with now would limit the speed of any broadband provider?
the only other i was considering was utility warehouse ( partner wants the broadcall package) but have no idea if they throttle or have traffic shaping?( i know eclipse home select doesnt)
how do tell which in actuality would be faster?

any help would be greatly appreciated, gotta make a good choice asap so i dont get locked into 12mth of infuriatingly slow sky bb!

As you need to move fast, without thinking too deeply initially I suggest you have a look at O2 Access.

It is quite likely the speeds on that will be little better than Sky Connect as it has a history of a few weeks good then a couple of months bad, but at least it has a 30-day getout guarantee from the date of connection. So you would have time both to see how good or bad it is, and also to get more advice here and think what is best to do.

They are just introducing traffic manangement on it which should improve the performance for most customers and stop the bad periods. Only time will tell though.
