Only able to get phone or internet at one time, not b oth!

Help! I did try removing faceplate to try and put a filtered one on but its a very old thin small one with metal backing on the socket so the faceplate was far too big.

The issue is, you cannot use the internet and phone at one time, you have to remove the phone connection to let the broadband work or remove the broadband dsl cable from a filter or remove the filter for the phone to work and when both connected at same time nothing on either.

I have tried 3 different phones, 4 different routers and 5 different filters with the same problems.

Could you post a link to some pictures of your BT sockets?

Did you try using a differnet line cable from the router to filter?
When using the phone what happens if you reconnect the line cord to the router?
