Multiple ADSL lines

[link to this post]

Hi All,

I need to upgrade our ADSL connection from a basic 8Mb line, question what is the best way of doing this.

It appears that EFM is not yet available in our exchange and may not be for another year and I think a suitably sized SDSL solution is too costly. There are two options that I can see:
1). Two bonded lines from a reliable business grade ISP
or
2). Two standard ADSL lines, soon to be ADSL 2,+ and something like a Zyxel USG 200 unit to load-balance between them.

We have about twenty users and apart from normal internet traffic we have an SMTP Server. Also we have a number of hardware VPN's which might be a little difficult to replace remote routers because of their awkward locations.

Any thoughts on the best way to do this?

Do you actually need "Bonded" do any of your users at any time need the potential 16Mb download or 900 kb upload?

Pardon my ignorance, what is EFM in this context? And which exchange is it?

Thanks smile.

So on a quick google of that, in the context it looks like a fancy way of saying FTTP. Even excludes FTTC as being implemented by Openreach.

EFM can (and is) delivered by copper wire from the exchange, bundling multiple pairs to get the bandwidth. See http://www.ethernetinthefirstmile.com/ look for EFM copper. Can also be FTTx.

That's the site I went to. Do you know of exchanges where EFM is available?
