The ones you have in place will be fine. Keep the O2 ones for spares. I tried the O2 filters and they weren't as good as my own, so they went straight back in the box. Where the O2 box itself now is as well - using Netgear for tweakability and better stability.
AND! - Ignore the CD.

The power supply may need swapping.
But which Netgear have you got? It may be better than the O2 Box, depending on the exact model and possibly version. Usually only about 3 settings to change.

the one that comes with aol is the one i got

That doesn't tell me. What model does it say it is on the label?

DG834G is the netgear router i have at mo

Version 4 is good on O2 LLU, Broadcom chipset, tough normally fractionally lower sync and throughput than the O2 box. That is easily compensated for as it is tweakable which the O2 box isn't except for forcing ADSL2 instead of ADSL2+.
Versions 1,2 and 3 are poor - AR7 chipset.

I use a DG834G v3 and it works fine. I am around 1.5 miles from my exchange and am on the basic, up to 8meg, package. My download speed is just under 7meg and my upload is .9 to 1 meg and these speeds are very consistent. I found the wireless performance of the Netgear to be a bit better than the O2 router (I got the Mark 1, in April 2008), so I've used the Netgear for the last 18 months.
During the first few (uncapped) days I got 9 - 10meg sometimes. Maybe I could do a bit better with a v4, but I am very happy with my 'up to 8meg' package at £7.50, especially since I just got an email offering 3 months free if I sign up for the next 12 months. Allowing for overheads, I'm getting my 8meg.
I didn't bother with the cd (mainly because I was on Windows 2000 at the time - I've upgraded to XP now). But yYou really don't need the cd.

Just switched to O2. My Netgear v3 gives 56db attenuation vs the O2 box which says it's 58.5db! But, the O2 box hangs onto my line with a target NM now of 3db.
I also find the V3 NM is much more variable, +/- 3 or 4 db on the line whereas the O2 box is +/- 0.5db.
When I was on a BT provided service (BT was not my ISP), my NM varied from -4db to +24db ... disconnects all the time, 160k syncs and 135k IP Profile. Most of the time I was stuck with throughputs around 75k-127k (yes "K").
Now with the O2 LLU and O2 box and a target NM of 3db, I now sync sometimes OVER 5 megs and get throughputs between 4 and 4.5 megs!
Nothing else has changed bar the connection to the O2 boxes in the exchange.
Well done O2, and shame on you BT as you lost another ISP a valuable customer.
So, to sum up, my V3 Netgear is NOT as good as the O2 box.

when do i know when my line is on o2 do they txt you when its ready cus its spose to be ready today

Are you moving to O2 LLU or O2 Access?
The text always takes a few hours to come after the switch. If to O2 Access you may find both ISPs work for a short period, so plugging the O2 Box in and seeing if it auto-connects to O2 may work.
If to LLU (Standard/Premium/Pro) then once your existing one stops working you will probably find O2 works as soon as you swap the routers.

Connect the O2 supplied router and watch the BROADBAND & INTERNET LEDs.
As soon as they light up, you're good to go!

I never received a text after migrating from Be to o2. I was never given a date either and raised on online query asking for a date. They didnt reply to that but next day I got an email to say the service had been switched over. When I got home from work the Be setup was no longer working so switched over to the O2 box and up and running.
Speed is the same as with Be so thats good, and the order updates were ok up until the end.
I also transfered my mobile number over to O2 PAYG, and that went as planned.

That looks good .
If I read it right, you connected the O2 box around 17:30 on Saturday. If so, you should get a higher speed by connecting well after dawn and well before dusk.
To get the full stats you need to Change User on the O2 box to SuperUser. The password will either be the serial number on its label, or O2Br0ad64nd (note capital O at the start and numeric zero in the middle).
Then you go to the page you got the speeds from and click the Detail link at the top right.
You pleased with it?
