BT speed dropped again

[link to this post]

I get about a month of good speed from BT and then i can post a letter quicker.

My speed has been:- Download 6543.54 Kbps & Up load 370.78Kpbs for the last 5 weeks and all of a sudden a BIG drop to Download 830.93 Kbps & Upload to 327.89 Kbps.

Could it be something to do with the weather ? or is it just ?

Is anyone else in Wigan, Lancashire having the same problems, just trying to find out if its a local problem or not

Its been like this now for 2 days. So here we go its time to contact BT.
Wish me luck

Give it a go, nothing lost !

The usual is modem still connecting at the higher speed, is the IP profile still a 7.15Meg profile?

Nothing wrong with your line then, very short line length indeed the exchange must be a stones throw away smile

Have you downloaded a lot recently? I've heard on here that BT may restrict your speed for a while if you download a lot in a short amount of time.

Other than that, could be congestion on a busy exchange, or congestion on BT's retail broadband network. What's the speed like at different times of day?

Bt has just phoned me to say that my throughout speed is 7515 Kbps when Think Broardband says its 830.93 Kbps, i know who i beleave.

I am about 1,200 yards from my local exchange so norm my speed is good.
I have been doing a bit of downloading over the last few days.
My package with BT is Unlimited Broardband, so to me that means NO LIMIT but to BT it means "dont download to musc or we restrict you" LOL

Give it a go, nothing lost !

Hi donewalking,

Yes good idea, it's always better to do speed tests at off peak times. You have the email address to send your details, just be sure to include username etc in the subject field so I can identify you.

Many Thanks

LLL MMM AAA OOO !!!

Is that because that way BT congestion doesn't show up so much?
