Re: Post Office ADSL Max problems

Well the checker I use mostly hasn't been updated since 12 feb, but it says this.

Another checker that just shows the latest state, and needs the phone number, is this one.

Bob's broadband basic info/help site:
www.robertos.me.uk
ISP history: Demon dialup >> Freeserve dialup >> BT Broadband >> Prodigynet >> Newnet >> O2 Standard.
Purple Cloud for domain, email and web space.

So this is an issue for the bt openreach engineer to sort out then?

if it's a capacity issue on the exchange link to the outside world it's a BT Wholesale problem that usually gets fixed once enough fault reports are raised about performance.

You can see the same thing if the DSLAM has a faulty card or similar problem, I had two customers on the same exchange with different ISPs where throughput was as low as 1 or 2 kbits/s on the speedtest.

MaxDSL - goes as fast as it can and doesn't read the line checker first.

Are your kids pirates ? Limewire, Bearshare, Kazaa, BitTorrent, eMule are all tools of the trade.

I'm still having issues with this being bounced between bt openrech and the post office. Would I have any sort of grounds for terminating my contract with them even though I am still inside the minimum term?

edit: bt came back ont he 9th with no fault found. Fault was rebooked with them and they came back on the 12th with no fault found. all they have been able to do is book it again - I can guess what bt will say!

Should not normally even go that far. Issues such as the one you are seeing are often identified and fixed within BT Wholesale.

Matt
Lol. BT wholesale don't fix overloaded exchanges. They ignore them for as long as possible. Even the plusnet and Nildram tools are unreliable, because to get them to register as congested you first have to get BT to admit the exchange is congested, which they won't do if they can help it.

Mine is down as congested - not good seeing as the wbc date is the 31st march which in theory would make it worse. The best I can hope I think is to get on a 20:1 contended package which PO dont offer.
