Wireless Broadband speed

[link to this post]

I have Virgin package M 4-10m (plus TV and free anytime ph) and have a good discount so dont want to change package as will loose discount. Have done speed test for Enfield and rean 3.6-6.2m download. test showed higher speeds in area. Is there anything I can do to speed up. I have Linksys wireless (current speed 54 mbps- is there a better one that would speed up, mine is 5 yrs old now? Or shall I accept this is as good as it gets?

Tried connecting via an ethernet cable, if the same speeds then its not the wireless slowing you down
