Nildram - shaping/blocking NNTP (usenet) from this weekend?

[link to this post]

I've been a Nildram Broadband user for a good few years, and I've always used text-only usenet without any issues. Had a couple of network outages over this weekend, and now all traffic on ports 119 (nntp) and 563 (nntps) is dead slow. This is to multiple different usenet servers.

However, I can access a server over another port (well outside those ranges) and it runs at full speed, which leads me to believe Nildram (or whoever owns them now) has just implemented traffic shaping on those ports. I suspect our connection has been moved to the new owners infrastructure, and we just got traffic shaping by default.

Anyone else noticed / experienced this? It's a shame, because it looks like I'll finally have to move away from Nildram, despite having had years of trouble free service frown

Talk Talk do traffic shape so it's quite possible.

Assuming Rockh is right, and I reckon there's a fair chance, post the link to what samknows says about your exchange.
