Hi all I am new here, I am an O2 broadband customer and was wondering if there was anyway of having O2 home phone without signing up to a BT line.

Afraid not. frown

MKD has a useful comparison of BT, O2 and Primus phones here.

Virtually all landlines in this country are BT Openreach, and most of those are BT Wholesale as well. If you tell us your exchange we may be able to point you to non BT-Wholesale ones, though personally I am happy on one.

I believe BT are offering cheap installation for an 18 month contract. Sky also do phone installation and you don't need Sky TV or Sky Broadband. You can have O2 broadband on a Sky line.

The Post Office phone is slightly cheaper installation than the normal BT one, and it's only a monthly contract!

I've got myself confused - I missed that you already have O2 Broadband! Ignore most of what I said before.

Your Sky line is on BT Wholesale Line Rental. So you should be able to sign up to O2 Home Phone, which is also BT WLR.

Don't forget to check TopCashBack and Quidco to see if they are currently doing cashback for Home Phone. I'm sure they are but in a rush to go out so no time to check. If they are, remember to clear cookies before going in through them.

I think we're missing a bit of information from you.....

Are you asking if O2 or Sky do line installs (or enable old inactive BT lines) or are you asking if you can have phone line rental from companies other than BT without having to start the ball rolling by having a BT contract?

I assume you're about to move house (otherwise you'd already have a phone line, being an existing O2 Broadband customer).

Sky will arrange for a new phone line at the same time as setting you up with a Sky broadband account.
AFAIK this would be a Sky line, with calls & line rental charged by Sky, but would still use BE cables to get to your house (no other way I'm afraid - for close to 99% of the country it's either BT lines, with or without BT as your supplier, or cable TV).

O2 are planning on providing line installs (again; this would still be BT lines installed by BT engineers, but you'd pay the installation fee and line rental to O2)....but not yet frown.

UL Sync 1088kbps

If you have o2 broadband over ADSL on the BT phone line which has been "cancelled" you are likely to lose the broadband on that line as well.
