ISP Edge Telecom - unable to post to forum

[link to this post]

Hi, I' want to post a question about the ISP Edge Telecom but the Post option on that section is disabled. Can I post it here instead?

I'm thinking of signing up with Edge for a basic b/band connection. There seem to have been no comments about them for several years on this website or elsewhere, and I just wondered if no news is good news, or maybe they have relatively few subscribers and therefore not many faults?

Any comments appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Seems no problem posting, as far as the preview stage anyway.

Years since I heard of them as well. What are they offering that attracts you, who are you with now and why move, and what exchange are you on?

Thanks for the reply.

They've got a light-user package of about 3GB usage, for £15, monthly contract. I'm with freeola / entanet just on dialup, and freeola's equivalent cheapest b/b option seems a lot more expensive ( as is other entanet resellers I think). There are cheaper ISPs than Edge, but Edge's T & Cs seem to be better.

I've checked availability etc. using this website and Samknows and just need a basic and cheap connection / usage.

Subject to changing my mind if a particular better product shows up in what samknows says about your exchange, (please post the link to what it says), I strongly recommend Newnet Home Lite on a monthly contract.

Edge could very well be fine. Newnet are known to be top class. I only left them because I outgrew 3GB and could get O2 LLU, which is the bee's knees.

See these comparisons.

Thanks very much for the info. After looking at all the ISPs shown on Samknows I'd narrowed down my choice to Newnet and IDnet mostly based on T/Broadband's comparison chart, and the ISPreview site. But I read these ISPs' T & Cs and didn't like some of them, whereas Edge's seem fairer.

Newnet was my first choice until I read the recent postings by Newnetuser1 and others about Newnet's apparently dodgy usage stats, and the other related issues.

Edge's cheapest package is also monthly, and i think they have a small user base, which is meant to be a plus point when choosing an ISP . They're owned by GCI Telecom which i've not heard much about (except the Skypein issue several years ago).

Newnet user stats have been dodgy for years. I think we have seen at most two leave because of them. The problem is manageable smile, and most choose to stay for the other benefits.

What exchange is it?
