Apple.com takes over 5 minutes to load

[link to this post]

Hi,

My ISP is Zen, who are excellent and provide me with around 2.4 mbits/sec downloads in a rural area which is only supposed to get 1 mb/s! All of my surfing is fine except for www.apple.com which takes several minutes to load. The screen goes white, and the status bar at the bottom reports "waiting for images.apple.com" for at least 5 minutes and often I terminate the request when my patience runs out.

I am accessing the internet via a Netgear DG834 v4 and have a part hard wired and part wifi network in my house. Both of my PCs experience this problem, and they are hard wired with gigabit cable via Netgear GS608 switches.

I am at a loss to work out why just this website is inaccessible to me. Can anyone help please?

Cheers,

Phil

Is there a yellow bar near the top asking if you want to allow it to run Quicktime?

That's all I can think of at the moment sorry. I just tried it on my 6Mbps LLU connection and it was instantaneous apart from IE8 asking that question. Took a few seconds after I answered yes.

Apple are about to make their iPhone 4 'announcement' at 6pm perhaps that's got something to do with it...

Very good!!! I can't wait to hear how he's going to put a spin on this fiasco.

Take your point about it being a busy time for their website, but this is all the time for me. I just don't understand.

The page wouldn't load initially due to the internet security suite in use on my PC, it loads OK now though.

It is YOU ...

There is never anything wrong with anything Apple ...

maybe you need to switch to the iBrowser or use an iRouter on an iDSL line!
