Broadband fast everywhere in street except me HELP!!!!!!!!

Hi hope you can help Sky are in Barrow now and everyone in street appears to get 10-20 MB I have been told I can get 5MB.Cable seems to go to the same box as everyone else yet I only seem to be offered 5Mb.I live on the end terrace does this raise an issue.Rell annoyed by this any ideas and help would be appreciated.

Hi have you currently got broadband? if so can you post your line stats from your router as without the attention figures it's impossible to know what speeds your likely to see anything else is like the estimate you have got from sky, as they like most isp's use btw data base and that info isn't always updated, bt says 2mb maybe upto10mb for me but i get 18-19mb

Yes I do have broadband AOL currently getting about 3-4 mB ish.Friend just got SKY and hes getting 15MB,as I said put my phone number into SKY and they say just 5MB all the surrounding houses are estimated 10-20 MB so presuming something is amiss somewhere.What are the line stats and where do I get them from?

Yep it 's those particularly the downstream which will provide the most accurate results, if you don't have a BB connection already though, unfortunately there is no real way of telling until you are connected to an isp's kit at your local exchange,

as for you being on the end terrace being an issue that could affect the speed of any BB supplied to you,extremely unlikely unless it's a lot further away from the exchange, or indeed on a different exchange, than your neighbours are connected to ,but you can't rule out the possibility of a poor quality line, or it being affected by other lines crosstalk etc
