Thanks Phil, that;s ok then.
Is there no electrical bits in the part that I took off ?
It's the old Telecom type pre 70s I think, just looks like the extension connectors are visible.

no components in the detachable faceplate. other than a ring wire filter in the later Openreach ones, it's just a means to provide a socket on the front and an extension cable wiring point that is easily disconnected for testing.
