Due to hit us very soon.

Could affect the net and particularly wireless router connections?

Do you have any particularl reason for thinking it may affect WiFi connections? I'm rather puzzled by that statement; afaik, solar flares tend to affect the ionosphere (medium and short wave radio frequencies, as used by DSL rather than the GHz frequencies used by WiFi).
A similar event in 1989 shut down Canada's Quebec Hydro electricity supply (because of massive induced currents down at ground level?) but allegedly the networks have learned from that incident.

There now say the biggest flares can disrupt technology, including power grids, communications systems and satellites. Can't wait to see what happens tonight that when the worst of it is due.

Depends on the wavelength emmited from the solar flare I guess, Id imagine it would hit mhz harder than ghz frequencies

where's my tinfoil hat when I need it !

MaxDSL - goes as fast as it can and doesn't read the line checker first.

Are your kids pirates ? Limewire, Bearshare, Kazaa, BitTorrent, eMule are all tools of the trade.

I hope not - tonight's a busy night for TV. My Sky box is running both tuners flat out for five hours and even my FreeSat PVR is recording two or three things.

you need FTTH to download them from catchup services

It will affect shortwave communication, in so far as shortwave broadcast and other signals will disappear during any blackout. If there is an aurora then some long distance VHF stations will be distorted as well. But it will have absolutely no effect on ADSL or 2.4GHz Wifi.
Despite what the media are saying, this is still a quite small solar flare, only X2.2. The maximum recorded was X43, on a logarithmic scale. Talk of it causing damage to satellites and such is utter nonsense and just media hype.
