It will affect shortwave communication, in so far as shortwave broadcast and other signals will disappear during any blackout. If there is an aurora then some long distance VHF stations will be distorted as well. But it will have absolutely no effect on ADSL or 2.4GHz Wifi.

Despite what the media are saying, this is still a quite small solar flare, only X2.2. The maximum recorded was X43, on a logarithmic scale. Talk of it causing damage to satellites and such is utter nonsense and just media hype.

My Sky box is running both tuners flat out for five hours and even my FreeSat PVR is recording two or three things.


you need FTTH to download them from catchup services wink
