Can anyone access Facebook at the moment?

[link to this post]

"downfor" type sites can't even resolve it to an IP address to test. Ping fails via PN, www.facebook.com fails via O2 mobile.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,website and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet Extra Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 53.7/14.9Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

Maybe the site is trying to emulate the share price!

www.fakebook.com is up!

www.fecalbook.com and www.faecalbook.com are too.

Looks like NTT/XO are having routing issues affecting many..

http://www.internetpulse.com/

It has appeared completely down from our Maidenhead network but up from Sheffield and New York. Some see it fine, some dont.

I signed up a while ago just to see what it did, left it alone within hours. Then discovered a promising musician had moved on from this area and I found him on FB, so established the Friend link so I could follow his professional career. Which I haven't done!.

Then a family member invited me as a friend - hmmm. That didn't provide any interest either other than suggestions from FB to befriend half the population of his village 350 miles away, who I'm extremely likely to have anything in common with.

Now I wanted to post congrats to another following a superb concert he gave. But he doesn't use it, and the contact on his website is his agent.

I have to say I find Twitter just as pointless as FB. All they do for the most seems to be to stop you having any away-time from people you probably see every day anyway, or provide some wierd fantasy world with someone you don't really know anything about.

For some people, that's the prime function of the internet... crazy

Surely you would then post on his Facebook "wall" to noting you had seen his Tweet about the FC post!

Of the internet? Probably.

Of Twitter and Facebook? Not a chance, I don't have accounts on either.

I'm quite happy to accept that for some people they're the best thing since sliced bread, good luck to 'em.

And they do have valid uses, such as getting on-the-spot news out, fast, to a wide audience.

But they're not my scene.

Sliced bread is only for emergency use. Generally pap. See Section 2.2. The first definition in the Thesaurus list there seems relevant to the main discussion. Or the pap1.3

Thanks, but - 0 results found for "xxxxxxxx". Doesn't look his sort of place. It looks even worse than FB. The guy is a top flight international classical music performer.

I'm sure any "social networking" links would be on his website.
