We need to know what value it is at, read immediately after an untweaked reconnection.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,website and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 54.3/15.4Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

Kitz is a bit confusing there, and I don't quite follow the logic either, from my understanding of the way it works. I shall have to check where the validity of "negative" values comes from.

However, if we assume Kitz is right, do you mean you entered adslctl configure --snr 1 ? And that gave you around 6dB?

Which leaves the question of why your target noise margin is at 12dB in the first place.

Try N = 65519 which is the router's way of representing -17.

But all these figures are only approximate.

Hi thanks for your reply my starting figure is 12db

Is the noise margin still 12dB when the router is connected to the TEST socket within the NTE5 type master socket.

You could forget the faffing that probably won't survive a power cycling of the router ,& download &flash the router fw with dgteam fw, that has a the option to lower/raise tsnr from within the GUI, and it sticks, no need to reset everytime you power cycle the router

You are confusing yourself frown

In the table you link, I'm giving the value for N = -17 which is actually represented as N = 65519 for your desired change in NM of -7 dB.

wink Just follow my instructions on the label and you will get to the value you want, tho', as pointed out, I can't guarantee whether your router will stand for it.

Well that took it down by -6.8 dB. Close enough!

You could just gradually reduce N or try N = 65511 for -7.5 dB.

Do it manually as you had been doing.

okay smile i assume it best to do it manually rather than by dgt fw?

many thanks for your time XRaySpeX, your last suggestion kept things nearly the same as my last stats.

not sure why my snr has risen from 6 to 12 through, my line is very clear and do no suffer from disconnects, think i will get an snr rest then lower from there

You know manually works. DGT just automates what you have been doing and remembers your settings thro' a reboot.

N = 65500 for -9 dB is in that table.

I use the formula: N = 100 + 16.7 * dB + (65536 if 1st part negative).
