Kippen cabinet 2

I have been informed that cabinet 2 in Kippen is at capacity (80 ports). BT senior management categorically deny this. Can anyone shed light?

BT customarily will add more tie pairs and or cards to a cabinet as necessary and if full they will normally add a second or even third FTTC cabinet. What makes you think that it is full? Does the BT Wholesale checker tell you this? When a cabinet needs more tie pairs or an additional card the checker usually gives a date when orders can resume.

For an address on ESKIP cab 2 the BT Wholesale checker is showing availability

It is possible the cab has filled up in the last 24 hours or so and new the checker has not updated, but once at capacity the available line will change to show that there is a problem with an explanation note.

So next question is who said it was at capacity.

An "informed" source on this forum (which I now cannot find) said that it had reached 80 lines, which I understand to be the maximum in any one cabinet.

Some cabinets can hand more, so depends on what make and size was installed

Capacity can come in various flavours, e.g. just another line card needs slotting in which is fairly quick and depends on how busy the team is that drives around installing new line cards are OR if all the line cards are installed than a much slower affair is to install another fibre cabinet.

Is there *any* kind of cabinet that reaches capacity at 80 lines?

Huawei 96 with 24 port line cards and Openreach keeping ports back as hot spares, so the 80 lines is max available for eu to order, but it appears that for this Cabinet, 32 port or even 48 port line cards have been deployed meaning it could go as high as 192 physical, ( less when OR hold back hot spares)

it appears that for the Huawei 96 Cabinets to do vectoring the MA5616 DSLAM in them needs 48 port VDSL2 Boards, so the cabinet is actually capable of supplying 192 lines.

The DSLAM might then be capable of 192 lines, but the cabinet might not.

Remember that the cabinet needs wiring correctly, including the pre-assembled plugs that go into each card, taking connections from the Krone strips in the other half of the cabinet.

All that comes pre-assembled, and it won't be set up for "the wrong kind of card".

Is there any way to find out the number of lines a) connected to the PCP, and b) connected to the DSLAM? I am interested in finding the take-up percentage if at all possible.
