I've posted before about my line noise issues.
Twice now I've experience a noisy line, hissing, crackling and popping.
Both times if the engineer has "fixed" it by replacing the master socket. It's just happened again, a few month after the last time.
Any advice on what the problem could be, and what I could ask to be done to resolve this once and for all?
What could keep making master sockets cause line noise?

Nothing, it won't be a fault with the master socket.

That sounds like a strange one...
Storms can kill a master socket, but you would be unlucky to have this keep happening - but it's possible.
If the problems are definitely related to the master socket have you checked for damp to see if that could be a factor?
It's also not unheard of for cats, mice etc. to 'have a go' at electrical equipment!

Is the house underground Fed or line from a pole but I'm betting it's a cable issue

Is it a filtered master socket with both a phone and DSL socket? Sometimes the filter can be faulty. I had 1 of those put in and had similar noises. Went back to a standard NTE5 and a dangly filter - problem solved!

It's pole fed, but each time they test they can't find anything wrong. Didn't appear to be weather related the last 2 times; it'd come an go in warm weather, wet weather, windy weather and so on.
I should correct my first post. The first time the engineer changed the faceplate filter, the second time he replaced both the faceplate filter, and the NTE master (screwed onto the wall).
I'll take it apart later (way too early now!) and look for signs of damp.

I had a saga like this on my line.
It was perfect for many months ,then became noisy and basically useless.
Over a 5 year period I had BT here 4 times a year at least. Sockets, internal wiring, equipment , they blamed everything but never solved the issue.
Twice I was told they would switch pairs but never did it.
I moved to LLU and after months of perfect broadband the issue returned.
Provider organized engineers who came in with test kit I have never seen before.
Instantly they see the problem and say it is the connection in the PCP which has notoriously bad connections and is obvious to anyone properly testing the line.
They changed the connections at the cabinet and that was the end of the problem .

Interestingly my problems started about the time that the fibre box was installed. Do you "jiggle" or move the connections in the PCP to do this?
I'm wondering if it's there, and the "fixes" have been sheer luck. The noise comes and goes of its own accord. (Silent line this morning, but attainable on the router is still down 10Mbps.)

Depends what type of cab it is some are push connections both ends or push one end crimped the other or there's the type where wires just dangle and they are a nightmare

Are they referring to the new tool-less gell filled connectors/panels in the new cabinets, if I recall DexGreen are making them for BTOR in the new new cabinets ?
There was a YouTube Video about them, just cannot seem to find it.

I seriously doubt it Paul. As far as I am aware cabs with these terminations in them are rarer than hens teeth at present.

Despite all your wild rantings, that one comment (highlighted) indicates that you lack basic understanding of diagnostics.
A switch to an LLU provider would not cause a line fault at the PCP to go away! That's what they call a non-sequitur. You probably had them checking all the tie-pairs at the exchange, throwing out duff comments like that!
