My cabinet is in the design phase according to or where and when site. How does infinity 2 performed from those that have it and can you get it separate from the phone line as I have already paid my line rental in advance with BTs line rental 12 month saver?

Performance wise, it's ok. You can get it stand-alone on the Solus offering but BT will give you a good discount if you add it to your phone package.

What sort of figures are we talking about as we hardly use the phone.

I think it would be best to have a look at bt.com to figure that out, or maybe call their sales team as they're always running offers which never seem to apply to the stand-alone packages.

You seem a little confused there. Or am I misunderstanding the problem?
Infinity is the BT FTTC fibre product, and customers normally have to take BT line rental to have it. AIUI if you take it just happens, although I was told two or three years ago that my ordinary line rental would start a new minimum term to match the Infinity. But I don't know about the "New Customer" deals. Maybe you would need to haggle. Who are you with at the moment?
Nearly every other ISP also offers FTTC, and only a few insist on you taking their line rental. So you can choose any of those with your BT Line Rental Saver.
The biggie is Plusnet. However you lose all their new customer deals as well. Smaller ones we see often here are Aquiss and uno.
Sky will apparently also take you on and let you keep the BT line, at least for the first year, or maybe they would offer to pay it off for you. I think they have done that for some.

I'm with Xilo/uno but their 80/20 has a 500gb limit.

Though unmetered hours amount to 4.5 days out of 7 (8.00pm - 8.00am and all weekend) similar to what I once had with Freeola - Got by on a 50gb package.

Im using about 60gb a month according to Xilo use history with one heavy month in July of 97gb, that was probably downloading windows 10.
|
|
|
That's quite a lot for peak time use, but still a long way away from the 500gb. Some suppliers are not un-metered until midnight.

I have Infinity 2. The Line Checker told me when I ordered (and still does) that I would get 76 Meg download speed, but I have never achieved better than 60 - even using the Test Socket.

I very much doubt that. The checker will have given two ranges and said that you would probably lie within those. What are the actual figures quoted for both ranges?

Depends which checker of course. The BTW one of course doesn't give throughput estimates. Plus the poster could be using wireless.

Yes, the line rental saver and Infinity can exist on the same line and have different contract end dates..

Performance will depend how far from the cabinet you are - specifically the route the line takes. It will also depend on takeup, as crosstalk from other subscribers can reduce your speeds. If you are an early adopter, you should expect speed drops over time.
Up to 200m, you should be easily able to get 80/20.
Up to 400m, you will be grazing the top of the 80/20speeds, but crosstalk might take it down.
At 600m, you might see around 50Mbps
Speeds will then have dropped to around 25Mbps around 1000-1200m.
These are rough speeds, but performance can vary hugely with crosstalk and the specific details of your line.

Thanks for that. I am 700m from the exchange with a cabinet roughly half way in between as the crow flies so I am thinking in the 60s. I currently get 18.3 on ADSL2+.

If it doesn't yet http://dslchecker.bt.com/ will eventually [as long as you don't have an LLU line (i.e. Sky/Tal]talk) give an estimate of the speeds you can expect to achieve.
There is also an address checker that works regardless of who your line rental is with but will be less accurate than using a phone number.

I used to get 9M using adsl2+ and converted to FTTC with the cabinet about 350m away. I can get >100M but just buy a 40M service. I think you will get up to 80M without any problem, if you pay for it.
As other have said, try the http://www.dslchecker.bt.com/ checker and see what the stats think you will get for your line.

Your cabinet is being funded by BDUK. These tend not to show estimated speeds on the dsl checker until they are nearly live.
As your cabinet has just entered the design phase I'm afraid you are probably looking at maybe 12 months before FTTC is available.
