IP Profile issue?

[link to this post]

Hi there,

Wondering if anyone can help. I'm on the 80/20 package with BT, but my IP Profile is 70.61Mbps, despite the router saying it's syncing at the max speed.

The connection is solid, and I'm not getting any disconnections, apart from every 20/30 days or so.

I've posted the HH6 router stats below.

Data rate:
20.00 Mbps / 80.00 Mbps

Maximum data rate:
26495 / 83565

Noise margin:
15.3 dB / 4.6 dB

Line attenuation:
14.9 dB

Signal attenuation:

VPI / VCI:
0/38

Modulation:
G_993_2_ANNEX_B

Latency type:
Fast Path

IP Profile is as follows:

The current Downstream BRAS rate is: 70.61 Mbps
The current Upstream BRAS rate is: 20 Mbps

The event log shows:

dsl:VDSL link Up: Down Rate=83777Kbps, Up Rate=26618Kbps, SNR Margin Down=15.40dB, SNR Margin Up=4.60dB

Slightly puzzled, as I thought the first and last columns above were upstream/downstream.

Thanks in advance.

Paul

Brain has lost the specifics, but believe there are some scenarios to do with G.INP/Interleaving where the IP profile margin is more like 90% on VDSL2 rather than the usual 96%.

Lines which have a target SNRM lower than 6 dB are almost always subject to a high retransmission parameter (also known as "INPRein" which presents itself on Bearer 0). A high ReTX alone is responsible for a slightly reduced IP profile which typically is 91-92% as opposed to the typical ~96.8% (depends on chipset as well, but I won't complicate it too much).

Still, 70.61 is a bit low, mine is 91.88% of sync speed, which would equate to 73.50 Mpbs.
