FTTC banding

On FTTC 80/20, my modem has always synced at 79999Kbps down and 19999 Kbps up. Until a few weeks ago, when it seems that DLM banding kicked in and it is syncing at 73999 down, 19999 up.

Pings are the same as previously.

I contacted the ISP and they said that they will request a DLM reset and that this could take up to 48 hours to take effect.

Four days later and it looks like my line is still capped at 73999.

I have just come to the end of my contract and thought an ISP switch might force a DLM reset. Is this the case, or will it make no difference? Or worse, would it introduce interleaving? If switching makes no difference, or makes it worse, then I'd rather stick with the current ISP.

Would appreciate any information on this.

Yes, AIUI a change of providers will trigger a reset.

IDNet. I asked them about it over the weekend and have just received a reply stating that the reset request with Openreach did not complete for some reason and that they will try again.

Really don't want to leave IDNet, although Zen is an alternative option. Very willing to wait for IDNet to try and resolve this as they are excellent.

Are you on a Zen GEA cable link, No (BT IP profile )? If so then with the exception of moving to Zen they would have to switch GEA cable links and this triggers a DLM reset, as would you going from 80/20 to 55/10 40/10 products ,
I had a 80/20 service with Plusnet they used BT wmbc for data transit , when i switched to zen same product 80/20 there was no dlm reset or re sync , only a loss of PPPOE

I'm not sure if I am on a Zen GEA cable link, not sure how I would find out if I am.

Unfortunately, the down sync has dropped further to 69927 Kbps and ping has gone from 6ms to 14ms (as per a test on speed test.net).

I have replaced the DSL cable and will wait to see what DLM does in the next couple of days. If it's not the cable then maybe the modem has developed a fault (I'm using a Draytek Vigor 130 in bridge mode).

I just hope the sync doesn't go down any further.

For info, looks like the ISP's DLM reset request has worked. Sync speeds are back to 79997 down, 19999 up and ping back down to 6ms on speedtest.net.

Hopefully, whatever caused my line to be capped was just a one-off.
